Are you drawing a connection between the two things, ie you’re cancelling an order for a Kia (EV6?) to put an order in for a Q4?

F__king Putin. With all the chaos in the last few years, he couldn't leave bad enough alone.

New Zealand Autocar: Switzerland considering EV ban amid possible energy shortage

As Europe heads into the cold of winter, Switzerland is considering banning or restricting the use of electric vehicles (EV) as a way to combat possible energy shortages citing that the ongoing conflict in Ukraine is to blame.

Multiple reports say draft legislation has been drawn up in the nation which contains restrictions on EV use, stating that they may only be used for “absolutely necessary” journeys and could extend to bans.

Other measures of combating the shortage is by imposing stricter speed limits on the nation’s highways.

The EV ban is a part of a wider scheme to reduce electricity consumption which also includes banning the use of leaf blowers, seat heaters in ski lifts, the temperature of washing machines, and even slowing video streaming speeds.

Even if the nation does encounter a shortage, electric cars will only be banned in the third tier of the power saving plan.

I believe the Q4 is a larger car than EV6.

I'd imagine that badge premium would also buy a lot of breathable shorts and BSAC waxes.

He specifically mentioned AWD, for which your figures above do not apply.  Yes, Q4 AWD version is still (significantly) dearer than the equivalent Kia but there is no rebate for either, so the price margin does not get distorted by that.

Only the braked towing capacity is higher for the Kia.  I doubt that many privately owned trailers are braked?

Q4 AWD luggage capacity is (very) slightly larger but whether the difference is noticeable will depend on actual dimensions/ layout.

Ultimately it will come down to personal preferences and whether the additional cost is an issue or not.

Single Axle, most are unbraked,

Double Axle (boat/car/Horse/etc) most are braked,...

Lithium battery prices have just increase for the first time since at least 2010.  Batteries cost 7% more in '22 than they did in '21.  https://lnkd.in/etNh48bv  Prices are $/kw and all values are converted to 2022 dollars.  Probably reflect the increase in oil prices (freight = oil) more than anything.  Machinery and labour prices won't be helping either.
