LEAF owners should check their front wheel struts if they haven't already. This is an old issue, but some here may not be aware of it.
The water from the windscreen can get down into the bowl around the bolts on the top of the wheel struts (left and right window-side corners under the bonnet) and if precautions aren't taken there can be rust there.....and over time it could be a problem.
The solution is simple. You flick the plastic covers over the area off with your fingernail.....like this: 
and then dry the area out with a cloth or whatever. Brush away any rust with a small steel brush and clean it up. Then slather in grease. Here is a pic of mine and it's clean and greased. 
Additionally, you can cover the area with something to prevent more water getting in.
Nissan sell a cap for this purpose. Why they didn't just put in the car in the first place is one of life's mysteries. Or you can put a small toilet plunger cup on it....or whatever else.

Another bit of Nissan LEAF accessory info. You can buy a charging cowl to lock in place when charging your car. It mainly prevents people from easily tampering with your charging plug if you're not with the vehicle. Probably especially useful in places like motels where you might leave the car charging overnight in the open....or if you're someone who has to charge in the open where people pass by for whatever reason. You add two brackets to the hatch. There are holes there for this purpose already. Then you slide the cowl into place and close the hatch. It locks. You use the key hatch button, or the unlock hatch button inside the car, to release it. You slide it off, fold the two sides in and put it back in its bag.
I got mine for $150 from James Jia of Oti Motors in Remuera. He imports and sells Nissan LEAFS, too.
