Linuxluver:

I got mine for $150 from James Jia of Oti Motors in Remuera. He imports and sells Nissan LEAFS, too.

I contacted James through his mobile number I found on one of his TradeMe auctions.

He said he "sold me spare to another leaf owner", and doesn't have any more charging port cowls.

James says he'll let me know when he does get more.

:)

Sorry! I thought he had more than one. I guess I got it. :-)

No need to apologise.  I didn't even know they existed.

My wife went to Nelson to bring the car back to Wellington today.  She's still on the ferry now with it.

She's been send me pics of various things.  This one worries me somewhat.  My Google Translate says that the 83:41 is "Traveling Time".

That's a long time for amount of KMs the car has supposedly done.  :(

Am I reading it right?

[EDIT]  Duh!  Is that 83 minutes 41 seconds for that trip?

[EDIT 2]  Nah.  I can't work it out. Maybe I should stop jumping to conclusions.  :)

Just happened to stumble onto this guide for buying a leaf in NZ. What an excellent write up, anyone see anything he got wrong?

I've looked and the cheapest charge port cover I can find is in the UK at £124 plus shipping

Here's a short list of other accessories. I would definitely be a starter for the blue, back-lit Nissan logo on the charge port cover. :-)

That's a cumulative total of time in drive mode (even if in Park) since the last time it was reset.

If you go to that screen and long-press on the 'dot' button (top right of set of four just below the driver-side vent), it will rest the distance and time to zero......and the clock starts counting right away even if you're not moving. To me, it close to being meaningless because it includes all time the car is turned on.....moving or not.

Hi all,

So I discovered via the Leaf Spy app page that there are defective OBD2 Konnwei KW902 connectors around. This page here describes how to tell if it is defective or not. Essentially pop it open and check if the cable going from the display to the board is two separate cables or a flat cable, the flat cable is the defective one.

I just popped open the one I bought from AliExpress here https://www.aliexpress.com/item/OBD-II-Brand-KONNWEI-KW902-BT-OBD-II-OBD2-Bluetooth-Scanner-Auto-Fault-Detector-Diagnostic-Tool/32809331549.html

and it is a defective one. The sure way to know is if it is defective is outlined at the beginning of the thread here http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?t=23776

I don't have a way to measure the resistance on the pins so I resorted to opening it up. So now I don't know where to get a proper one and I was planning to have a look at a Leaf on Wednesday, guess I'll have to assess without one.

Where are you located? Try posting where you’re looking to buy from, as many reputable EV sellers now have OBD2 adapters on site available (mine actually gave me one outright on completion of the sale!) or perhaps ask on the NZ EV owners page if someone in the area you are looking to buy from could come with or lend theirs?

As we’re still such a small bunch and mostly becoming passionate pioneers, you’ll be amazed at how far out of the way people will go to help you catch the big. I even had a guy 10KMs away lend me his spare 3pin EVSA for a week while I awaited my sparky installing the commando plug point I needed for the EVSA I was supplied with my car.

Christchurch and I was going to look at Wheeler Motor Company. I've asked if they have any Leaf Spy details but we'll see.

Warning: One particular dealer selling 3 Leafs on Trademe to be avoided: they are located in Otahuhu. Would say no more.

Why can’t you say more? At least advise what the ‘gotcha’ is to look for, as I doubt only one person would do it? (Whatever it is they can do as a registered motor salesman anyway?)
