I thought this was a pretty interesting article...maybe it is a signal or maybe it is much about nothing.

Already have a smart home charger. We need more public charging…
exador:Take a look at the current list of approved 'smart chargers' via the link on p.6 of the consultation document. What many consider smart aren't regarded as that by TPTB. You may well be surprised. Our Evnex E2 EVSE has all the connectivity we need including solar diversion but it doesn't measure up to EECA's requirements.

Its likely missing OCPP 1.6+ or this one below, which is really weird, but i guess its for restarting after a power cut maybe?

I had a read of this as well which mostly made sense

Hmmm, written by a bunch of boffins that are out of touch with real world scenarios, unfortunately. My EVSE is way more advanced, and open source - but not on their list.

As a consumer I don't want a delay of up to 10 minutes when my 3 hours of free power starts. I'm sure this view will change when power cuts occur with too much power drawn from the grid, but until then I have this selfish desire to maximise the free charging.

(We've had the Evnex E2 for over 6 months now, and it's been excellent.)
Keep calm, and carry on posting.

$20k price drop for Tesla’s in Canada!
Ok, we know why, but it’s a still $20k hit to Tesla’s margin on the cars.
Well, just pulled the trigger on replacing the Wallbox (plus Telsa mobile charger with 16A caravan plug) with 2x Evnex E2 T2 Plus units. The Wallbox is the third we've had - the first two were replaced under warranty as they became increasingly unreliable, stopping the charge after a few minutes and requiring you to restart it by unplugging and plugging in again. Annoying enough for the Tesla, which at least sends me a notification when it stops, potentially a showstopper for the MG which just might not charge at all and then have nothing in the morning. This one has now at least twice in the last few weeks just decided never to start. The car and the charger both detect each other ... it just never gives any power.
On top of that it is not communicating with the solar at all, which means someone - and by someone I inevitably mean me - always needs to be paying attention to make sure that if both cars are plugged in in the afternoon or later then the MG gets 16A (because only the Tesla charger has a long enough cable to reach it) and the Tesla gets 8A as there is only 25A to the garage when the solar is off.
The two new Evnex units will communicate to each other and the solar so they will share nearly equally (I'm told one will get slight priority on the solar in particular) and will be able to go faster when the sun is up, all without having to rely on me to manually work things out.

Anyone recently purchased anything from chargemaster.co.nz in Auckland, both of the phone numbers listed on their web site come back as no longer in use.
I place an order with them for a charging cable a few weeks ago and have not had a response from them, they are not replying to emails, and their online chat is not working.

Stale instagram, dead facebook link. I suspect that whoever is running it has given up when I see that sort of thing.
Also a 1* review 3 weeks ago about a messed up order.
I would be looking at doing a chargeback at this point with them clearly neglecting their online presence and not responding. Someone closer might be able to have a look at the street address and see if its still trading or if the landlord has left a note on the door and changed the locks.
Our Polestar2 has just turned 3 years old so last week the local VTNZ crew got to check it over for its first WOF since its delivery one.
The technician had "never driven anything like that" and returned the car to me with a prominant "Don't drive" banner displaying as they hadn't engaged one of the bonnet latches properly. Easily sorted but last night was our first night driving trip since the WOF and when full beam wouldn't remain on I was scratching my head as to the cause; recent software update, electrical fault, and then I remembered the WOF. They had obviously been exploring how to check high beam (park brake had them beat too) and succeeded in leaving the headlights in the off position rather than auto as is our usual practice. I did do them the favour of turning off the OPD or who knows what they would have got up to in that regard.
I get twitchy every time one of our EVs is left in the care of technicians as following a panel beater visit for our Leaf it took me a Google search to work out how to disengage the Japanese maps displaying on the screen thanks to a nosey panelbeater.
