Of the possible candidates he is potentially one of the best, but I am not sure how it will work rebooted at all.

Plenty of shows have continued without 1 star, but 3 ?

The first thing I thought was, Who?
The new team will have an impossible task. In the same way that diehard TG fans looked down their noses at the US and Oz versions of the show, the new one will be critically compared with the old. The worst thing the producers could do is have the new one even slightly resembling the old. Might be better to rename it "The programme formerly known as Top Gear".

Edit: Corrected grammar.

The AU and US were a shadow of the US versions, they were almost painful for at least 2 seasons each. The US is better than the AU, but still lacks the punch of the British version. I think they lack(ed) access to the European cars and an understanding of the history of those brands.

Typically we all get used to many replacement actors, they grow on us. But while the new version may be refreshing for car review info, its the quirkiness that is the key. Its not jokes, car info, its the quirkiness and you can't easily replace that

Is this the same guy who the other day said he wouldn't be host?

RIP Top Gear, then. Bringing in a guy who previously said he would never touch the show doesn't inspire confidence.

I will give a fair go, it will be refreshing to watch a new Car Show. A point to ponder, did changing the Doctor stop Dr Who? the BBC does this sort of thing well.

The Australian one tried too hard to recreate the actual characters from the UK version.  That alone made viewing it very weird.

He will be good.

Proven car nut, spent large sums/losses on cars.

Years of media experience in UK with high profile on radio and tv. (done more things than Clarkson)

Bit manic.

Hope it happens, would return to watching TG as Clarkson for me was Pratt.

The current TG is a reboot of a much more dour and serious original (Tiff Needell anybody?) so whilst it will be different, I'm quite hopeful the focus will move a little more back towards the cars and less towards the antics and "challenges" as it has become in recent series.

I appreciate a good challenge as much as the next person but to be honest it had begun to get a little boring.

Evans seems a bit of a car guy, an entertainer, a personality, so he's probably more likely than anyone else to have a good show at moving things forward which he seems keen to do... I look forward to seeing what that's going to look like - and who else is involved.

Actually just watched the episode of TG with Chris as the guest, and he does seem to like his cars but it wont be the same, the banter the trio had made it entertaining.

Interesting to see how it goes....

Yep, just reboot the show.

No point trying to be the old Top Gear which was basically the Clarkson show.

You will lose viewers, but maybe gain new ones.

Top Gear changed a LOT in Clarkson's time there. Change isn't always bad.

I guess money talks. Don't have a great of respect though if he initially denied wanting to do it, he could have  just said no comment. I predict they will likely also have at least one female host, possibly Jodie

The show basically became 3 grumpy old men (although they weren't that old, just looked older than they were), usually driving overpriced cars that no normal person could own. In a way the internet and youtube has made car review shows redundant, so it is purely an entertainment show these days.
