Looking into Subaru Outbacks and I see a fair number of them Ex Australia Labelled as Statutory Write Off's.

Is it just a case of avoid at all costs? I have concerns as I would be transporting my young family and wouldn't buy one if it wasn't deemed safe.

Interesting you say that I was also contemplating buying one. I saw a Mazda CX-3 on trademe. But just because it was written off I was not to keen on it. However it must be legal and safe if its gone through the checks?

I wouldn't touch one with a 40-foot pole. I believe they're tightening the compliance rules around these, so they'll probably disappear from the market soon.
