So the new routes/timetables for CBD/Nth Shore/Whangaparaoa have been made active in the journey planner.

When I first heard about the new options, I thought "yay, no more waiting around for buses", and that I'd get home slightly earlier.

Hah.... yeah right.

I'm now going to have to leave home 15mins earlier, and spend extra 15-30mins on the bus on way home.

Cant win :)

Some people win, some people loose. I'm happy that my route is relatively unchanged, but there are a few extra off peak times available.

Yeah well thats the plus, is that on peak there will be only a 10min wait per bus rather than the current 20+ I experience in the evenings.  I may be able to find alternative buses to catch to speed things up, guess I shall see at the end of the month.

Unfortunately we don't like in a multiverse where every single event in life goes the way we want :)

I'll be curious to see what they do in my area. At least they're retaining the Beach Haven/Birkdale loop - having to change buses at Birkenhead would have been a hassle (especially with kids).

No improvement for me. Feed bus still runs hourly in the mornings and hourly in the evenings. AT keeps saying that people should take feeder buses to the Park and Ride but then the feeder buses don't actually allow that. What the hell, AT?

The 83 bus is a huge improvement for me.

I could be spending up to another 40mins each day..... and still get to work and back at the same times, if not later.

Glad I have a kindle and tv shows on the phone.....but will be 12hr day.

Day 1 of my experience with the new North Shore bus timetables etc.

Hopped on the bus and the driver greeted me with "Welcome to the shambles that is the new AT network".

If there are AT people here, I think he was joking.....

Now for the return journey!

Heh this morning was fine except theyre not using double deckers from Albany into town which is nuts due to the amount of uni students etc. The trip home was entertaining, chaos at every station.

But I got home.

10 mins later than the old system. Will be worse once schools are back I think :(

I imagine changes like this would take a lot of drivers well outside their comfort zones. I also imagine a lot of bus drivers are bus drivers (and paid accordingly) because they don't like being out of their comfort zone.

They'll get over it :)

Well, this morning was entertaining. Local bus 10 mins late. While waiting, 5 empty buses went past going the opposite direction within 5mins.

982 finally arrives, get to Silverdale. About 50 people waiting for NX1. Arrives but then has to wait until 6.35 before can leave. So more delay. Get to Albany station - driver goes past the stop area that was used yesterday causing confusion among passengers. Eventually stops on opposite side of bus station. Everyone sprints for their buses which are all just leaving. So wouldnt surprise me if a lot of people missed their bus.

Auckland Transport is suspending 37 services on a major bus route after gridlock and commuter chaos at its Constellation Drive bus station last evening.

Good to see AT are taking action straight away to address the problem. Meanwhile in Wellington after months of issues, they are launching an inquiry into the problems with their new network. Other than the issue at Constellation station, it seems to have been a pretty smooth transition. I guess the real test will be in a fortnight when the kids are back at school.
