The Hazard

Corolla CVT Transmission: The subject vehicles are equipped with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). There is a possibility that, due to an error in the manufacturing process that some of the impeller pump blades in the torque converter may break away, if the vehicle is frequently operated in higher load conditions, such as under rapid acceleration from a low speed. Damage to the torque converter and potentially a loss of motive power may occur. Loss of motive power while driving at higher speeds could increase the risk of crash.

What to do

As an owner of an involved vehicle, you will be contacted by registered letter requesting you to contact your nearest authorised Toyota dealer to arrange a convenient time to have the repairs completed at no cost. Alternatively, contact Toyota's Customer Dialogue Centre to discuss.

I think I might hang on to my 1997 manual transmission Corolla a bit longer... :-)

Gordy

My first ever AM radio network connection was with a 1MHz AM crystal(OA91) radio receiver.

Pity Toyota didn't drop the CVT and go back to a normal one as they have with the Yaras and the higher end Rav 4. I have a 2013 Corolla with CVT and it's never given us any problems but the 6 speed standard auto on my Mazda CX5 is better.
