Have almost finalised a car from Auckland. Does anyone have any advice on a shipper to bring car to Wellington?

I got one quote for almost $600 from one outfit who said they only have 2k insurance to cover damage. Would like to check first with you all in case there’s some pitfalls to look out for or lemon companies not to deal with. Thought about train but have no idea if that’s better or worse than trucks. Thanks

I'm assuming flying up and driving it back isn't an option? It's probably substantially cheaper than any shipping option.

Thought about it but really don’t like driving such a distance any more. Was going to pay a neighbour to drive it down but by the time I pay for flights and other expenses and gas plus add more ks to the car figured it would save very little. With my luck he would prang it.

I have two to choose from and one is not in Auckland. Will tell once I make a decision between them.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Update in case anyone else is planning to ship a car. I got many quotes by using google to search. The quotes varied by up to $400

I chose one for $575 from Banda.nz. The owner Tony was amazing. He answered all emails promptly and gave a price as soon as I queried which was late at night. No waiting for a day to get a question answered. He literally held my hand throughout the procedure. The car was in North Shore and the seller was in palliative care, so Tony offered to pick up the car for no extra charge. Impressive show of empathy. Shipping is on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Car arrived intact and I went to pick it up from Seaview. First time driving it, got it home and sat in the garage with the motor running staring at the dashboard...had no idea how to turn the car off. It’s keyless. Had to leave it running while I raced inside to find the owners number. 'Push the power button,' he said amused.

Have taken the manual to read, all 600 pages of...if this happens, do this, instructions. It’s scared the bejeebas out of me and given me a few regrets buying something complicated. Someone said to me, treat it like a phone, just use the bits you need. It’s a hybrid Lexus CT200h. Hope there are others who have one and can throw some light in moments of panic.

Wish I could give Banda a plug but google doesn’t give the option.

Was your husband ok with such forward and potentially inappropriate behaviour?

He didn’t seem to mind at all. Do you suspect he’s praying for someone to replace him :))
