Sorry for being stupid out here.

Does Amazon send any invoices in the parcel when you receive your package from Amazon?

I'm fairly sure if you send it as a gift it doesn't have an invoice.

Yep, this is what you get then:

I just picked up a pair of ELAC Dolby Atmos speakers for $239. They have a $35 deposit for Duty but that should be refunded because the amount is still less than the GST limit.

Very timely as I've been eyeing these speakers for a while.

Would it be possible to get around import tax through sending under different names to the same address?

Is this question allowed in this forum?

GST is based on the total order value so if you can find items that have free shipping just create separate orders for them and there's no need to use different names or different addresses.

The thing is, I've once done that before, but things ended up staying at customs for a week and half for some reason, and 2 different shipments ended up there a week apart, and customs just grouped them up as a single shipment and charged tax

Then if that is the case you are now buying "gifts" for friends :-)

You still need to pay GST if you're buying gifts for others.

Ah...I like that idea. Of course 5 of my friends want 8TB drives

I think the idea is that amazon doesn't include the prices on the gift receipt. I should have though of that before...

A friend recently imported a product with no price on the declaration, and Customs talked to the supplier to get the value.

It has not been a banner ad for me on the app or website for a while now.
And some items that were no longer are part of the free shipping.

When you choose shipping options if the item is eligible you will see the free shipping option.

I wonder if the free items are already in their Australian or Auckland warehouses? (Assumption of an Auckland warehouse from the printed shipping label saying Amazon Warehouse Auckland)
