Also did some distance tests via these settings (tests were done on an Open WiFi hotspot (2.4GHz only) / Chromebook with stupid settings on the e400).

Region set to "Other" - channels are fixed, power output of the e400 (somewhat) maxed out.

I had to pry the unit off with a screwdriver ripping the screws out of the wall in the process and re-mount using the smaller screws drilling small pilot holes (comes off nicely now). Don't make this mistake... 2 more holes to patch up when I leave this tenancy ;)

Sounds just like my experience on the ceiling. One screw was in GIB other in wood. Ended up ripping the one out of the gib and bending the bracket before I could get the damn thing off. Wouldn't have found out for years unless it was for the rebooting issue. My old AP was more like a smoke alarm - it looked like one and had a nice bayonet fitting.

From memory, the screws suited to the plastic anchors are not counter-sunk and are therefore suitable for mounting the unit directly using the keyholes but not suitable for mounting the plastic bracket.

I have now taken back my stance on using e-roaming. I was messing with it a little too much and it seems the APs become very sticky in dropping clients.

Heres the events for just my phone over the last 12 hours

essentially was dropping my phone off wireless endlessly every min or so when it realized there was a client connected that was "bad" rather odd and needs some more testing.

Thanks! I've promised the missus that my entire setup will be destruction-free. At least I'm three steps closer to not getting to sleep on the sofa (one for each Cambium AP).

@mrdrifter @miked if we were to make up a large WiFi network covering most of Tawa here are the settings I am using:

SSID: Free WiFi
Power: 27 (set to "other" region, on 2.4GHz only, rate-limited to 10/10Mbit and 50/50Mbit total for this SSID)
DNS: Set to OpenDNS - firewall rule on the router blocking other DNS servers - blocking pr0n, P2P, proxy avoiders and other things you just don't want to deal with.

Firewall is running on my Edgerouter - separate VLAN:

If you need any help setting these up let me know :) Same to @thewanderingv (I saw your DM).

I just decided to check what was happening in my street for Fibre as they were originally aiming for April 2016, its been pushed back until March 2017. They got to the corner 180m down the street and stopped :-(

Is anybody with one of these willing to share a config they consider to be pretty good? I've got mine setup but am no expert so would like to know what settings those that are more knowledge are using. Particularly interested in what channel and channel width people are having the most success with.

Ive shared mine with a few, however im still tinkering and have already revised what i sent out..

channel width, as big as she goes.

a good guide for 5ghz ac relevant to the cambium products.

@PANiCnz: I'm running channels 36 and 52, both theoretically 80MHz wide (and reported as such by the Cambiums, but reported as 40MHz by my laptop which has a very early 802.11ac card in it).

Although at the moment channel 36 is down as I'm testing the factory default state on my broken unit at Cambium's request. So far with no config, (therefore no clients or radios), it hasn't rebooted or crashed all day. I'm progressing gradually with their support, but it is very slow going.
