i have issues with my mobile devices not seeing more than 20mhz above the 36~48 range.
have not been able to work that one quite out.

How can I be sure I'm getting 80Mhz? My phone is connecting at 585Mbps. Last night I tested a dell latitude laptop and was getting 780Mbps but that would drop to 650 'under load'.
Those speeds are what is reported by the devices. Throughput is of course a different story. Running iperf with a TCP window of 1MB I could get 209Mbps with my phone and 275Mbps with the dell laptop.
Interestingly my old trusty HP Elitebook 8440 with with 5Ghz 'an' connects 300Mbps and I can put ~200Mbps though it! All of these devices are about 3 meter from an AP on channel 40, power 15, reports 80Mhz. I only have the 5Ghz radios enabled.

if your seeing 867 your hitting max 2x2 80mhz.
my phone gets 80mhz 1x1 so 633.

Yeah it's kind of depressing doing iperf tests. 867Mbps Yeah right. MMbps=Marketing Megabits per second
But with that said, I'm extremely happy with this setup. Especially for the cost!!!

at 702 ive broken just over 500Mbit but past that ive struggled to get it higher. (867 tends to dip down to 702 when i hit higher throughput, the logic isnt there but anyway...)
Remember speeds listed for wireless are half duplex so in the scheme of things its not too bad.

Yes true, I always forget that. Anyway ~200Mbps will be great when I get UFB in ~August. However I just learnt a valuable lesson about buying cheap "CAT6"on TradeMe 4 years ago and installing it in the walls of my workshop. 100Mbps not good. Idiot!

ouch. i just installed a batch of carrier grade toughcable to the garage today. I seriously didnt realize how fiddly that is compared to standard cat5e.

I did a shop at PB Tech yesterday buying cat6 to replace my whole networks cabling and noticed the fact that I am only using 6 ports on my 16 port Gigabit switch. Have used Toughcable on multiple occasions and it is really difficult to crimp however very good cable. Good to see you're doing a proper job :)

i cringe at much of the wiring done in that place, but anything i have personally done is to perfection, fully tested and such.
Awesome cable, suspect part of my issue is im not used to dealing with solid core etc,
Because the crosstalk and such was so low on that cable, cable tester estimated the cable distance to be close on twice as long as it actually is.
it practically is cat7 with the amount put into the cable, weighs a ton compared to normal stuff.

What PoE switches are people using to power their AP. or is everyone still just using the injector?
I was looking at using some Ubiquiti Toughswitches, but they don't do 802.3af so probably not the best choice.

I was using my 3Com 3CRDSF9PWR at first. It's an 8 port 100Mbit POE with Gbit uplink, can do up to 60W. Each Cambium uses around 4W.
Now I am using the injectors so that I can have gigabit backhaul (from my 24port non-POE gigabit switch) on the Cambiums. Will consider gigabit POE switch later in the year when I feel less poor.
anyone got any ideas on my issue.
various devices, ipad mini, nexus 7 second gen, galaxy note 5, all seem to have problems when band steering is enabled - my wifes HP laptop and my surface however - dont have this problem
im fairly sure its when they roam between APs, then get forced to 5Ghz on the cloest AP, it often goes to custard, the RX speed on those 3 devices is cripped to less than <1mbit in actual throughput, even tho for example the note 5 would say its connected at 500mbit for example, but no problem at all with the TX, stays the same full possible throughput when this issue occurs, so might get <1mbit down but 30mbit up in a speed test as an example
turning the wifi off and on again on those devices, instantly solves the problem and they back to RX at full possible throughput again
these performance issues are not related to my actual internet, i just used the speedtest as a example - same problem on LAN traffic - the issue is the APs or the way i have it configured is causing the issues.
