gmball: Anyone recall from last year if any stores discount Apple products on boxing day?

Im looking to purchase the new 27 inch apple iMac with 5K display, 10% off would definitely be worthwhile, 20% would be fantastic but very unlikely.

You might get a 10% off Apple somewhere. 20% off would be awesome (and other retailers would want to be buying stock at those prices :) )

There is a DSE brochure sitting on my coffee table with 10% off Macs. I'm pretty sure it's still current.

I have never seen Macs discounted by any more than this, so I'd say the chance of getting a better deal on Boxing Day are close to zero unless you are getting run-out stock.

The tv ads usually start christmas eve, although last year I recall some starting on the 23rd. I have found it is often the loss leaders which the advertise on TV that are the best deals, but you often have to be in quick to get those.

Any chance you can confirm the dates of the brochure, does it have an expiry date. I phoned DSE in Botany Downs Auckland, they don't seem to know anything about 10% off Macs, I'm wondering if your brochure hasn't come into effect yet (sometimes we are sent brochures before the sale commences).

If you could confirm would be great. Thanks

Re the question about the DSE brochure, I got one in the mailbox today that does not have anything I would be interested in, but it lists 10% off Apple Mac and is in store for two days, Boxing Day and Dec 27, plus it starts early 6pm Xmas Eve for online shopping.

The warehouse have a brochure out for boxing days sales, although they begin on Christmas day online. Doesn't look great and some of the things are currently being sold at the same price they are now.

looking forward for a good price on a 65 inch (60-70) sized TV. so far the best deal has been a sony70w850b for about $3200 with a free PS4, giving a final price of about $2800.  The Sony 55w850b is currently $1777 with a free 40" LCD TV, but I'm looking for something bigger.

I bought one about a month ago from JB Hi-Fi. No sale, just asked the sales rep for 10% off. Was that easy, JB are good like that!

I got the DSE flyer as well.

Nothing that struck me as a particularly good deal. They did have some price cuts (25% off all SLRs) which might be of some interest to some. But, given that their pricing seems to follow the Briscoes model and be significantly higher than others to start with, the saving isn't as great as it might seem. The only reasonable deal seemed to be a good price on 2.5" Toshiba portable hard drives - which I don't need.

So nothing there to lure me in.

Other than a few "door busters" which are invariably in short supply and quickly gone, boxing day sales aren't what they used to be.
