There is a thing in that catalogue stating 30% off Charcoal and Portable BBQs, Excluding Weber and Necessities brands. :(

heavenlywild: Let me guess, 20% off TVs, mobile phones and computers - the standard I suspect!

20%off what price though?

Taking a look at the LG42LB5820 TV
As of today listed on NL website at $1099, come boxing day get "huge" 20% discount and buy it for $879.20...
...order it online today (free delivery or walk into a shop) at JB HIFI right now and get it for $671.

As most of the posts in this thread confirm, discounts and sales are pretty much BS these days and it's up to the savvy shopper to find the product at the best price.

kobiak: Does anyone know if rebel sport does any extra discounts on boxing day? We want wetsuits for this summer :)

They almost certainly will, but the discounts are unlikely to be any better than the sales that they regularly have throughout the year.

671 is not a good deal. Can get better in a sale.

The Warehouse advertized a 'buy a DVD or Blu-Ray, and get the second  one half price' deal over Christmas, so that's something I'll be looking at to make use of the new TV we got last week.  laughing

Take the temp readings on those built-in gauges with a grain of salt.  (not just Weber's ones)

You can absolutely positively noway nohow rely on bi-metal dial thermometers. Even if you spent a fortune on your grill they mount unreliable thermometers on them.

$671 for the 42LB5820 is a good deal.
If you can get it cheaper in a sale, you are getting a great deal.

The cost on them is around $720-730 incl GST. Retailers do get rebates off those costs, but they aren't huge. A 10 percent rebate brings the net cost down to about $650, if you find one cheaper than that, it is making a loss and they will try pushing you to another TV or try and load you up with accessories/add-ons.

over $1000 as a RRP is a rip-off. It hink the RRP on them is about $849/$899, so showing them at before sale price of over $1000 is misleading and a reason why I don't shop at these retailer that always do that to make the %off numbers higher - Noel/Harveys and DSE often do 20/30% off TVs but they are starting at a much higher 'everyday' price than JB (and previously, the Good Guys). Briscoes and Rebel Sports (same group) do the same, but even more exaggerated.

Drifting off topic somewhat (I've also posted this query in Home Entertainment), on this model, using the USB record function can you schedule a recording through the EPG (rather than manually having to enter date/time).  I'm considering one of these as a 50th wedding anniversary gift for the in-laws. ease-of-use is a must.

After reading many reviews, I think I have decided on the new digital camera I want
Harvey Norman seems to be a good $70 cheaper than everyone else. Now I play the guessing game if the price will be better on Boxing Day

Haha, yes, it will be their one off never to be repeated 30-60% off everything in store. Don't miss out.
