I have just got off the phone with them because my Internet Reference Number never progressed to an actual Order Number.
They are honouring the price despite the mistake.

I was *this* close to ordering one of these but decided against it in the end as I just couldn't find a need for one for myself. Today however a friend has asked if I knew of any deals :)

The need for a laptop these days is the problem, as basically for most things a tablet or mobile phone is fine, and if you want to do real work, you use a desktop. The reason though I was swayed to get one is the screen resolution with IPS, and being touch screen with windows 8, and means I can work from anywhere, and aren't tied to my desk.

Exactly. A friend had bought one similar to this spec a few months ago for $1200 and it was stunning in every way which is why I was trying to find an excuse !

But I have an older i7 desktop with three screens for working which does everything I need. I rarely need/want to work away from my desk and my Nexus5 handles everything when I am away from it.

Has anyones moved from the 'shipped from factory' status? Mine has been stuck on that for the last week or so. But if I recall rightly last time I purchased something from Dell, it didn't change until I received the item. Mines ETA is supposed to be in a  couple of days.

My eta has just been moved out a week from the 5th of October to the 10th October, and is still in the shipped from factory stage, which seems odd.

Same, except I'm at the "With Local Carrier" state.

huh? i have 3 laptops. better than desktop! but yes can't do anything that needs a mouse, but you can use it as a desktop, or play games, unless you use it like a desktop. but i disagree with the statement!

Cool, lucky person!  Mine is at the "Ship from Factory" stage.  Let us know what its like - build quality, installed software (crapware, etc.).  Are you looking to install an SSD?

I was thinking of putting an SSD on there. I got the laptop for my sister and not for myself - I am quite happy with my desktop + MacAirt combo. I have a 750GB Scorpio (7200rpm) HDD at home that I was going to put in here for a bit better performance. I will be unboxing it later this weekend as am quite busy at work atm. But will update everyone on how the laptop is and how the build quality if holding up
