Unboxed it and set it up and ugh, what a horrible userinterface,

Also it looks like all the dropbox, google drive, evernote etc stuff is purely for printing from so I feel a bit duped by it. For $9 im not going to get too pissy about it with them but really that should be made clear that its cloud connection stuff is all one directional. Take and print only.

Are you serious? No scanning to drop box or network?

From the online manual: "… In the Settings dialog box of IJ Scan Utility, select the item you want to set, then select [eg] Evernote for Send to an application in Application Settings.  … If an Evernote client application is installed on your computer, you can import scanned images into the application and upload them to the Evernote server. …"

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Next week they will pay you $20 to pick it up. And $10 extra for each subsequent week you wait.

That's doing it on a PC, nothing cloud about that.

Its as hopeless as my last brother MFC whos idea of "send to email" was to use the bloatware to pop open a new message in outlook with a file attached on the computer. Whereas my old one just let you put email addresses in the speed dial fax buttons and directly did smtp (no ssl tho to pretty useless these days)

Ive had my confirmation email on mine too.  28 days wait for the cashback.  It did take a while to get the email about it though.  So far Im actually reasonably impressed with the printer.  Didnt really need it, was even going to leave it boxed up but decided to get it out to see if it'll print photos better than my colour laser.  On plain paper the same crappy quality, on photo paper its actually pretty damned good.  Havent tried scanning over a network yet, didnt bother installing all the extra canon crap either.

Still no confirmation. Maybe they're allergic to people who bought two on the same receipt ...

Would you buy ink for it though, and I wonder how long the original ink will last for? My last printer used most of the ink up cleaning itself. Would be interested to know the cheapest way to run it is. How about one of those continuous ink supply systems?

cheapest way would be to take the free money and printer they are giving out and bin the printer when its empty. Or sell it on trademe to some sucker "Just needs new ink" $1 reserve.

The problem is though that some of these printers only have starter cartridges for a few pages, and you then need more ink almost immediately. But if someone wants a scanner, it isn't a bad simple little scanner, just that it probably needs ink cartridges in it to work.
