michaelmurfy:
The biggest problem is they're having a "long weekend crazy deals" sale.

Having a tablet at 90% off is just a crazy deal isn't it? Doesn't seem like a pricing error as they said Crazy?

Especially when Briscoes consider 60% off to just be a regular every day sale!

gregmcc: HMM..isn't there something in the contracts act, like the seller offer goods or services at a price, the buyer accepts and then pays, the seller is then obliged to supply the said goods or service?

may just look it up and see....... (BTW didn't get a chance to order one *dam*) so i've got nothing to win or lose here

This is kind of correct, they offer you accept and pay then they should supply the product, however there is an "out" if it is a genuine mistake.  They will also come back with "we have not taken the money and just put an authorisation on the credit card for the amount".  Which means you have not really purchased it until they charge it.

However they've not said that a mistake was made and took orders (according to what others have said) up until 8pm last night where they then changed their website to say the offer had expired not that they had made a mistake.  This can and should be argued by anyone who can be bothered they have clearly breached the trading act by offering goods they're not willing to supply (again no mistake has been acknowledged they've stated the offer has expired) it's either that or they have a case to answer for false advertising.  Both of which could cost them more to fight than the loss they'll make on handing out a few hundred tablets.

They had a sale you could search the item and the items page stated it was a hot price during a time of a big sale every person could reasonabally argue that their expectations were the price was genuine add that to the page being updated to say the offer is no longer available instead of a error was made means you certainly have a right to believe there was some at this price and now they're gone.

I've not ordered one but would have liked to and if my order got cancelled I would be talking to the local store manager, head office and comm comm to make sure that my purchase was honoured based on those reasons.

Their T&Cs say pricing errors result in order cancellation. All orders will be cancelled, and you have no recourse. Why would they honor a deal where they're probably losing $250 per tablet, and I bet hundreds of orders were placed. No-one's getting a tablet for $50. Deal with it.

Time to lock the thread IMHO.

once upon a time in Australia the listed price is your legal right to purchase, even if it bankrupts the company. not sure if they have changed their laws since. that was the 80s by the way.

Oh i had the same thing, its because the email address already has an account, not that it tells you that it just throws you back out to try again.
