Some of you may be aware that Dns4me was the creation of a Kiwi programmer (Jason Kenah) who is now living in Sydney. Many geekzone members assisted us with testing and providing feedback during our Beta testing phase in the last 5 months of 2014.   Since coming out of Beta in late December 2014 we have added many DNS and Proxy Servers (we now have DNS servers in 8 countries and Proxy servers in 26 countries).  We now support 22 Netflix regions. We allow you to have 3 IP addresses (Zones). You can have up to 20 Custom domains and use our DNS logger to help create your own service overrides. We have a Host file generator that allows you to generate your own host file and we support Dynamic DNS . We have also introduced Multi Currency payments through PayPal with 7 Currencies being supported - the New Zealand Dollar being one of those.

To say a big thank you to our existing members and previous Beta testers, we ran an Easter Madness campaign which gave customers an extra 10% off the already low Facebook like price. The response was overwhelming.

We now want to expand this to our geekzone friends and have implemented a coupon for use when subscribing.  Just input 'geekzone' into the coupon code area and apply it. With the geekzone coupon and Facebook like, the monthly subscription fee is only NZ$2.42 or for 12 months NZ$22.25

Already a current subscriber? - no problem, we haven't forgotten how important you are to us.  If you want to lock in these prices for your next subscription renewal date, just cancel your current subscription and re-subscribe using the geekzone coupon code.  When your subscription renews it will be at the reduced amount. Don't forget that you can select one of 7 currencies to pay with.

We are going to be running this promotion until the end of May 2015.

Thanks Jason. I've been enjoying this service since the beta stage and thoroughly recommend it. Nice to have much faster DNS servers than I had with the previous service I used, and the flexibility and lower cost are icing on the cake.

Tivo upgrades to operate with the new OzTivo EPG, support and service. Over 400 performed here so far. See: www.hillcrest.net.nz

Just looking at an upcoming renewal of unotelly subscription and realised what it will cost me - works out around $60NZD for 12 months.
Has worked well and have no complaints about their service, but still.... worth shopping around.

Signed up for a trial of dns4me at the weekend and it has all been working fine - the interface (selecting services) is much nicer to use than unotelly. The bit that shows conflicting services actually makes sense in dns4me - found it a bit confusing under unotelly.

Also like the potential ability to set up some custom 'unblocking' if I need to.

Then I just found this thread and a discount code - nice one.

I was throwing up between UnoTelly and DNS4me. Ultimately I went with DNS4me as it is very very wallet friendly, plus the flexibility for custom domains and ability to export hostfile is great - though not that I'm using that.

There aren't as many services but it has all the general ones that I care about so that's good enough.

Don't think they have it at this stage, though I think that's one reason why the plans are much lower than all other ones.

EDIT: Oops. They do have Android app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dns4me&hl=en

You mean the app that runs on your PC and keeps the IP address in sync with your dns4me account?
No - thats the one thing it doesnt have as far as I can see.

Though I did use the unotelly helper app for a little while, I actually uninstalled it and just set up my router to use a free noip.com account. The only thing you have to do is to respond to an email once a month to let noip.com know you are still using your account.

dns4me use the noip account details to check once a minute (or so) to make sure your IP address is in sync with your dns4me account. There would be very few routers that dont support the dynamic dns setup.

We actually have an iOS app too but we are stuck in negotiations with the apple approval team over the legalities of geo unblocking.

There official response is:

22.1 - Apps must comply with all legal requirements in any location where they are made available to users. It is the developer's obligation to understand and conform to all local laws

To which we responded that we are very familiar with the legalities of geo unblocking and even sent them the Australian Communication ministers official response to accessing USA Netflix which clearly states its not a breach of the copyright act.

At present we are awaiting a call from the approval team to discuss

Cheers for the clarifications, is there any similar issue with NZ?

Could you not just call it a dynamic ip address updater and sneak the other stuff in under the radar?

Pretty sure Apple will dig deeper into it to find out more and the line of business what the company is up to...

In NZ its completely legal as well, initially we had the app set to be available in all regions then we changed it to NZ and Australia after the first rejection, Im sure they will come to there senses possibly just the approval team don't understand the laws with regards to geo unblocking.

Does the launch have to be Australia and NZ? Can it be initially just NZ if it's legal here? Or the common factor here is Apple's approval team is the blockade?

I think the common factor is Apples approval team as we have sent them lots of proof that its fully legal in both countries, they are probably just being cautious which i can understand but its very frustrating.

That android app seals the deal for me. I will sideload it to my FireTV.

My UnoTelly subscription will expire in July and I had been considering whether to renew or jump over to DNS4ME.
I like the ability to generate my own customer unblocker and host files. Plus always good to support Kiwi business owners, even if they are across the ditch.

Cheers
