I do find the nationalistic chest thumping a little tiresome but it is a uk stream so bit like us piggy backing the Australian Olympic coverage in past.
(Swimming swimming oh look more swimming 🏊♂️.
It isn't though - the Sky commentary we get goes out as the English-language world feed from FOM, from memory.
GV27:
Another Hamilton incident where he goes on to win the race, another round of excuses to why it's not dirty when he does it, etc.
I honestly don't mind Hamilton, it's the nationalism and tedious backflipping from his fans I can't stand. This stuff was world-ending when Schumacher was racing, now it's just 'hard and fair' racing.
Same here. Re Hamilton, I don't mind him, I just dont think he is God, as others seem to think he is. But what does wind me up is if he is losing, he is sad. We are so far behind Red Bull. If he wins for whatever reason, its because of all the hard work and the energy I get from the crowd. There is a clear reasonn why any car or driver won or lost
I haven't seen the race and until a few minutes ago I avoided headlines but then I saw one, dang. But I already knew he won, as when Red Bull wins, this thread is dry!
Batman:
25 points to Hamilton, free wing change under red flag
Merc clearly has done something to their car, it ate up the Ferrari and looked faster than the RB
Havent see the race.
Merc reduced their wing, what they should have done races ago when RBR reduced theirs to top up the speed trap, but you saw that in FP
RBR was faster in FP and also Merc was faster in FP, so which is it?
Merc has reduced the wing to get more top end speed, they are back to the front in the speed trap, at least from FP, but inferior on turns, but overall its close
Tyre management, track type, luck is what we will see from now on

I wanted to watch a lot of the FP etc sessions but no way could I listen to it any longer, it was chronic. No issue with the local bias but its way past that.
Batman: It's not the biss per se, it's crofty's irritating voice
Biss? oh bias lol. I dont mind his voice but i'm quite aware of bias, it was chronic. I had to wonder if there were any non English drivers in the field. I enjoy the pre race, but it was embarrassing to listen to, so I FFW thru all if it
On another topic, we all know races are team managed, always have been, but I was surprised to see Merc say they are using Bottas for Lewis, and Bottas saying in quali, yes Im playing the team game (as regards giving Lewis a tow). We all see it, we all know it, but they rarely bluntly say it
OT for @Batman (as no Olympic thread)
You got Sky for the Olympics, hope you find this useful. Quick and easy summary of the sports timetable

To me, it looks like the move was on and Verstappen moved across and got collected? Looking at the side by side of both cockpits you see Max steer away and then steer into Hamilton.
Redbull and CH are just crying because it didn't go their way and for once got a taste of their own medicine. There is way too much hate on Hamilton these days just because he's a 7-time world champion.

yes. it was a racing incident. this means that both were wrong and both were right.
the merc was all over the back of the RB and it was going to eat it alive. Max was moving all over the place to try to defend.
Lewis did nothing that other people wouldn't have done, but he did drive into the RB's line. not to crash into him but to overtake him.
The RB did nothing wrong, driving in his own line but unfortunately LH was there.
Should Lewis not be there? well he wants to overtake. at some stage you will have to be alongside
Should Max not turn into the same space? well he wants to not let Lewis through, at some stage something will happen - either lewis backs off, lewis crash, or max crash (or max gives up the spot)
i think Lewis got a time penalty for causing an incident because when both cars were in that spot, Max was ahead.
this is called racing. if everybody drives nicely it's not racing.
unfortunately Lewis is very lucky all the time. that's called life.

Hey Justy. Can't wait to see what happened as I haven't watched it yet. Re Hamilton, I feel the issue is more that he was given a car that was 2 seconds per lap faster than anything else in 2014. And team managed to maximise his results compared to his team mate. (AKA typical Formula One.) Not saying it's gifted, but.....
When RBR was winning everything, that was unfair and boring (apparently).
How I compare these two eras is the Mercedes were miles ahead of anyone else (where 3/10 a lap is huge, now its 2 seconds) and massive congrats for them and the car they designed) The Red Bull cars were not quick. Speed trap was mid pack on a good day. But the overall speed (or lack of it), chassis, aero grip, mechanical grip was a great package. Merc had a huge HP gain (good on them) but its not quite hte same as a car that handles better than its speed loses, thats a great design. While I'm talking cars, the drivers of these top cars represent them, sometimes they need to act a bit more humble
Batman:

The RB did nothing wrong, driving in his own line but unfortunately LH was there. If LH was there, MV has to leave room
Should Lewis not be there? well he wants to overtake. at some stage you will have to be alongside Agree
Should Max not turn into the same space? Not as far as I know if Hamilton was occupying the line and had some form of overlap, i.e. MV in front, LH has is front wheel alongside MV rear wheel. Now, MV has to leave room.
Now im busting to watch it which I will do soon

they've done something to the merc. it ate everyone alive. watch right to the end.
listen for the words: "this is a team order"
Yep it was fast and they did the right thing given Bottas v721 (who knows which version he calls himself) wasn't doing as well.
