Two quite different reasons.

George just plucked his CV from near the top of the pile on Toto's desk to the top of the pile. His quality was a statement, and yes, wow.

Unless Toto has made the decision before today I don't see how Bottas can keep his seat after this morning. A full 2 seconds slower in a (supposedly) faster car - sure the weather evens things out a bit. Still... 2 seconds!

Very gutted for Norris. He was looking like he could take pole position.

Agree, Russell is the future. More time with Lewis is good learning's.

Yeah, Norris is the bees knees. I didn't like him much in F2 as he was such a whiner in a race but boy has he grown into F1, a real star. Makes you wonder of Danny Ricc is that slow to get to speed or if Lando is just plain quicker

I can't see Merc not keeping BOT. He's only just behind third place in the drivers championship. They'll never let him beat HAM, he's a reliable team player, so I think they'll keep him for as long as HAM stays. Maybe!

While I've been a huge fan of Russell following his progress and excited to see what he can do at Mercedes I really do feel sorry for Bottas who has done everything that could have been expected of him. It's such a brutal business (I won't even say sport) to be in.

A swap with Williams might be an option..

Confirmed, so almost certainly Russell to Mercedes.

“Valtteri Bottas is joining Alfa Romeo on a multi-year deal for 2022! After five years at Mercedes, Bottas hasn’t had his contract renewed and is moving on to replace Kimi Raikkonen at the Alfa Romeo team.”
