That answers my question, I was away and had recorded the race. I was going to ask if it was still worth watching...

I recorded it also, and then opted to record the half hour highlights.

Watching that back, I couldn't believe how many laps it jumped where they didn't deem it had anything of merit for the highlights reel.

Was super excited to see the rain, and then they did 5 (or 6?) laps behind the safety car. Might as well call the wet tyres the safety car tyres now.

Exactly, was stupid. They have wet tyres. If you spin out, you drove too fast, same rules as in the dry. That cost us the thrills and spills of turn 1 and the next few. So, it was quite predictable. Track position ruled.

They used to allow racing in wets until they got sued by the parents of one who effectively got decapitated under a tractor

Yeah thats bound to be it. I watch GP2 as well, and it was GP3 or 2 last week that was all but about 4 laps under the safety car, ugh.

Yawn boring. Looks like Hamilton is going to win again.
In fact the only actions throughout the whole weekend were in qualifying.

He still has is likely to take an Engine penalty or two at some point; he's on a few fourth engine parts. 5th ones and ten place penalty... Expect them to come at Monza or other high speed circuits where overtaking is easier... We've seen with the right tyre strategy how the Ferrari performed today... So still a long way to go. Its a Merc championship but its the world driver is still up for grabs.

Interesting to watch LH deal with the speed today, kept Rosberg at bay and when needed had the pace to leave him behind... Looked like he was looking after the engine again which makes sense given the above.

LOL yeah. He was told to up his pace, replied he's driving at his best ability, then when threatened with losing the first pitstop, he increased face. Team player. As with any car in front its easy, if there is no drama, clear air, not scrubbing fronts. If either of them lead, and there are no issues, the order is controlled. They wont be racing.

Max continues to floute the rules. Multiple changes of direction, your allowed one. Then after having been told he has had I think two warnings for track limited, he tells his team Kimi exceeding track limits, man.

Track limits. A bore. First FIA are too flexible, now they make track limits on 3 turns, 20cm inside white line. Forget sensors, make track limits the white line, and when not one tyre is on the line, easily seen via a camera, pinged. I thought in the race, they were wanted for exceeding track limits, but not including if they had a situation that took them over it, but the commentary seemed to suggest otherwise. To me, the key is so you can exceed and go faster, or defend /attack easier. If you ran wide as made a mistake such as too hot, or brake lockup, well, thats not an intentional gain of time, so if you do that, ensure you don't gain time. Some of this stuff is getting too hard for fans to factor in.

It was boring and predictable. the front two was decided after the first couple of turns, and Ferrari vs RBR was too hard on a short narrow track. Talks of the new tyres next season says they will be more durable. Hopefully, tyres become e a non issue, so racing is not down to tyres as much as it is now

I just wish it went back to the days of significant mechanical grip as that allowed for close following and hard wheel to wheel racing. This focus on aerodynamical efficiency has killed the ability for cars to overtake. If they don't do that, then they need to drastically alter the air coming of the car in front in order to not spoil the grip of the car following...

Agree fully. Next years tyres will add a lot more grip. Arent they reducing aero?

Fair enough, but with wider tyres, more grip, that does move the ratio of mechanical and aero grip in favour of mechanical. If all the winglets and bodilets go, that would surely reduce the dirty air effect? A simple front and rear wing, maybe allow diffusers to do more instead of top aero, they can suck the car down rather than pushing it down.
