Jaxson: Confirmed, so almost certainly Russell to Mercedes.

“Valtteri Bottas is joining Alfa Romeo on a multi-year deal for 2022! After five years at Mercedes, Bottas hasn’t had his contract renewed and is moving on to replace Kimi Raikkonen at the Alfa Romeo team.”

Re Bottas, you could tell in the race that he was downbeat

Good race at Zandvoort though, a fun track.

josephhinvest: I can't see Merc not keeping BOT. He's only just behind third place in the drivers championship. They'll never let him beat HAM, he's a reliable team player, so I think they'll keep him for as long as HAM stays. Maybe!

Lol, oh well I clearly don’t know what I’m taking about!
I’m happy for BOT, hopefully he can have some success as #1 driver at a smaller team.
As for RUS… I wish him well at merc. They are not going to let him win of course as long as HAM is there.

Dutch race was good. More banked corners please! So many tracks are dead flat, this was great.

unless HAM is slower than Max and RUS is faster than HAM. if that's the case why wouldn't they? i don't think George is going to merc to fick spiders like Bothas did. regardless of what may or may not be in his contract. remember multi 2-1.

Dutch track easily the best in F1 this year. If only I can put on a VR experience of a Max lap complete with G forces. though i might pass out but should be worth it.

Russell is a view to the future I think.
I would not expect Hamilton to kick around with Mercedes/or F1? too long if the new changes finally coming in 2022 don't go their way.

I thought Hamilton was likely to retire after this season if he won the championship.

Yeah if I was Hamilton I'd have kept Bottas around as long as possible too. Weirdly I enjoyed the race, watched all of it. Go online an BBC comments are all mainly how they hated the track and how boring it was. Yep not much happened at the front on track but the rest was pretty entertaining.

Most of the Brits only think it's exciting if Sir Lewis wins. If he's led start to finish, it would have been an enthralling race. I still laugh thinking of Lewis saying that Max winning so much is bad for the sport, and how people won't want to watch any more. Oh, just like it's been for the last 5 years with you? Self centered so and so.....

Track was boring from a passing perspective, needs a combination of the insanely cool flowing roller coaster styles mixed in with more traditional sections to allow for passing.

Honestly the excitement for me is seeing new tracks (typically without the insane PC / Health and Safety style run of areas that resemble large car park circuits) and an actual competition for the lead.  It's been a mentally boring 5+ seasons of just one person winning constantly in a team that's been leagues ahead of the competition most of the time.  To see Russell jump in another teams car when Hamilton was out with covid, be coached on what buttons do what etc, and basically win the race (lost by Merceded team stuff up) really highlighted how far ahead the Merc car has been.

I'd take any change to that at this stage, it's become very boring and predicktable.

Monza has turned on its head. Max on pole, McLaren 2nd an 3rd,)and excellent with it)  Lewis shows Mercedes Achilles Heel when not in front. Free tyre choice too

Medium yes. Probably a short race though. Once the safety car from the 6 that get hit on turn 1 is done, it will probably be procession like at the front

I would be happy with that TBH. Will be great to see both Norris and Ricciardo on the podium.
