I'll donate $20 to a registered charity of tealeafs choosing if they make the top 8, and $30 if they make the top 4.
Poor Defence and Lack of consistency will again destroy 2018.
Does that go up if we win Minor Premiers, and then win the Grand Final hehehe? Will take me a year to think of a good one. I automatically think of the starship hospital, but lately moto neuron disease has been annoying me, before that it was breast cancer and how often men forget they can get it.
Back to the Warriors lol.
I 180 disagree with that, its our amazing fitness that will allow us to play 80 mins in gruelling conditions and run 10 metres back to get back in line to defend our line.
Like I said, Kearneys blue print is the same and Bennetts and Bellamys. You dont move on to the next playbook until you have one perfect and last year it was completions. That has plagued the warriors for 20 years, dropping the ball straight after scoring a try etc.
So now he is, I believe 100% focussed on defense. Clearly you cant defend in League unless you are fit, Ive played both sports and League is definitely more a cardio game especially due to it generally being non stop having to move. Looking at how fit our forwards are this year, Id hate to think of the training Alex Corvo put them through.
Now we do have 3 coaches, and clearly they will practise basic offensive plays, running angles etc, but our natural talent in the team should score points, it did on the weekend. It was their defense on a sunny day in Perth that won them the game. That tackle from RTS was just sublime. Speaking of which, last year there was a rumour of him going to Blue union. I hope not, we need him at FB.
I said this in the union thread;
"What rugby club actually has a 3 story CLUB for supporters to hang out in 24/7, eat, drink and waste money talking about how good they were (Russel Crowe pre Rabbitohs GF lol)?"
A massive advantage clubs in Aus have is fans hanging out at the club and developing culture. AND players do get confronted from fans when they put in a bad one. Ive always said we should move the warriors to Bondi (too close to Easts) or the gold coast (have the Tits now) as we need that exposure to fans and media scrutiny. Rugby League soaks up so much media in Aus, what do we get in NZ, 1min on the warriors once a week? They have 4 dedicated free to air shows and a fox channel and 2 fox shows dedicated to League.
So Im saying, the fans that say, "warriors to the bitter end, support them when they play bad etc" I just dont think is the right culture. We should support them by giving them massive critique.
For me that is one of the reasons for the teams lack of success, fan base equivalent to Aus based teams. If you can just go home after having a bad game and at worse hear about it on the news, you are more likely to take the high pay cheque and not look at yourself and understand its the fans paying you that money and they deserved better.
Another thing on the weekend, it wasnt even our good players that made the biggest difference, it was our home growns.
Penrith will be hard, they looked terrible against the Eels first half. 14-0, but won 24-14 with conversions and penalties from Cleary being the difference. (6/6).
Speaking of which, its him linking with James maloney which looked lethal.
Bizarre round, every underdog won.
