I don't know which to admire more: the Mercedes car or the Mercedes driver who shall remain nameless. Seriously, it was a pretty good lap, the car was in full balance/control to be placed where it needed to at the entry and exit of each corner. It's like how I explain to my son if you can ski graciously on one ski, then you're an expert. I can't drive like that on a playstation.

Super good race. Merc messed up the strategy slightly. I think if they had pitted Hamilton earlier he would've come out in front of Verstappen and potentially could've pushed Kimi towards the end. Verstappen did amazingly well to keep those tyres right to the end while having to defend. It still annoys me that nobody really knows what these Pirelli tyres will or won't do. SS shouldn't last as long as they did. It also would've been very interesting had Hamilton pipped Verstappen at the end only for Vettel to pip Bottas, that could've made things are bit sour in the dressing room.

All that said, I'm super stoked Kimi managed to get at least one win before he leaves for Sauber. It was a great drive from him and the Ferrari team ran a fantastic race strategy wise (haven't said that in a while).

I thought they could have informed Vettel earlier to get him to move out of the way asap; I thought Kimi was held up for half a lap or more by Vettel.

He did smile, just. The best part was he said its better than running second, priceless

Ferrari. They did make a jump at mid season, more hp, the car to beat and so on. Then what happened as per the coverage is they ran new aero parts, a good few of them, and they didnt work, that took the car backward. Dumped them this race, and dominated. That, some poor strategy, and Vettel making mistakes, the season should have gone to the wire. But Mercedes deserve the Constructors, as they did best over the whole season. Best car to begin with, minimal errors, consistent

I think Vettel and Verstappen swapped brains before midyear. Both had solid changes, one up, one down. Given how poor Vettel went when Danny Ricc was his team mate, I can see that again with LeClerc. LeClerc may well become the favoured one

Vettel has been a mess this year, almost acting as the chosen one but causing his own issues a lot of the time.

Ferrari in general have been rubbish at strategy, and frankly I do wonder if they were trying something on that the FIA warned them against during their period of dramatic improvement.

Kimi has been an ideal #2 driver, and LeClerc might be a thorn in Vettels side moving forward.

Ricciardo has had the season from hell. Poor bugger. I sense he'll go a bit like Alonso post world title, forever doomed in teams that aren't title contenders. Just wrong place at the wrong time and don't see a move to Renault as inspired at this stage.

McLaren, wow what a fall from grace. Glad to see them shut up a bit lately, for a while there they were still talking as a premier team but they're literally at the back of the field now. Incredible given their heritage.

This was a cool race, but again because the front wasn't a certainty. I don't think it's good for any sport (yes Rugby included) to have just one team dominate all the time. You can argue it's fair if they've developed the best car, but regardless it's always better when there's a real challenge going on.

I agree. Fair play to Mercedes. But when you start afresh with a blank canvas, its likely to have a wide field. Day one,. Mercedes was 2 seconds a lap faster, that's a true gulf. Its taken 4.5 seasons for another team to catchup up. But in less than 1.5 seasons, we start afresh again. Its highly likely that 2020 will bring a new spread apart pecking order. But the rest of this year and 2019 should be great

so spark have F1 rights for next years.

Rugby, F1, Supercross are my 3 main sports. Could be worth giving my money to spark next year.

Doubt the Supercross costs much to secure.

Wow that's pretty steep. I'm currently living in the middle east and we've got BeinSports here. I pay $180 a year for the online subscription which gives me access to 17 sports channels. It includes F1, MotoGP, the top 5 European football leagues, Champions/Europa League, Tennis (incl grand slams), Golf (incl majors), NBA, MLB, NFL, Olympics (when they're on), IPL cricket, 6 nations rugby. Plus a bunch of other stuff I don't really pay attention to.

I still can't believe there isn't something like this available in NZ. Of course it's generally stopped because Sky has the rights and is a monopoly but considering the amount of stuff they've lost over the last 5 years you would've thought there'd be someone happily snapping up those rights and just creating their own sports monopoly (ala Bein).
