My concern is we are now flip flopping the game style. Expansive works for us we have seen that, last two games its not been there, just stable and reliable, so we lose against a side we should have beaten, and we win by last weekends opposition mistakes, not great
hsvhel: Our front row showed up, but Johnson’s boot is a worry.
Better team and those points would have been crucial. And there’s no real talent in the pack outside him for a kicker
I never understood from either sides perspective the advantages to bringing Johnson back. It was an acrimonious split.
He has always been mercurial, like Quade Cooper, or Damien MacKenzie, or Carlos Spencer from Union, and whilst he may be able to break a game open occasionally, which helps in tight games, it does mean you don't know what you are getting week from week.
Consistency will almost always beat pizzazz.

His pizzazz has been excellent for the most part. The new coach told him and them to express themselves, i.e. play with flair. They did and its been excellent. last two games against average opposition its back to the boring predictable gamestyle from recent years. Complete a set gain 34m, the other side completes their set gains 45m AND runs the ball AND offloads and so on.
Wow RTS back next year on a three-year deal.
Former captain Roger Tuivasa-Sheck is re-joining the One New Zealand Warriors in 2024 after signing a three-year contract to the end of the 2026 NRL season.
The One New Zealand Warriors granted Tuivasa-Sheck’s request for an early release to switch to rugby union late in the 2021 season but the club has today announced his return to rugby league for a second term with his hometown club.
I think now hes got more competition at Fullback but may settle on a wing, Shaun is doing good this season kicking but it would be good to have another kicker too :)
Doing your best is much more important than being the best.
Excellent game yesterday, as every game has been when they run the ball and offload. That faded later on, but put that down to injuries and no one on the bench
Last night's game was the first I've watched this season. Definitely looked a lot better than last year, but seems that we are still getting shafted just the same by the bunker & refs. Gonna have to play even better to take them out of the equation.
In the past though, we would have capitulated early in the second half given the injuries & everything else going on, so despite some silly errors giving the Storm more ball, it was definitely a solid performance.
Edit - I should say a large part of the reason I stopped watching a few seasons ago was the consistently one sided reffing & bunker calls (against the Warriors). Last season looked like a total shambles regardless. This looked like a different team, with some heart & some balls.

I find it odd that they're still not match fit to 80 mins+
Its their full time job, hand on hips 50 mins in was a little worrying
Yep. Many do play 80, so why are the 25 minute players not fit enough??
Man it's a tough ride being a Warriors fan! They could sell season tickets as a rollercoaster ride. Warriors haven't scored a single point against the Roosters in 6 years!
Its getting a but annoying. Every game where they revert to play solid and reliable and stable, its a poor game. Yesterday maybe wasn't "poor", but when you play steady you do not win. You do not create opportunities. How can you score when you complete a steady set then kick the ball to a catcher who is under zero pressure. Then I guess next week they will run the ball and offload and have a powerful win. Methinks they will get to top 8, probably top 4 then choke with a safe game
As to being a fan, yes its a good watch, alternate weekly frustration aside
To me, this was last years Warriors. Yes we were missing Charnze and Jazz and Tohu but the rest of the team should still be able to go on. Shaun wasnt having a good day and again the dubious ref calls, but a good team can work around the ref so cant blame that completely :(
Next weekend, Panthers Saturday night...

It's pretty much the story of the Warriors for as long as I can remember. Inconsistent.
They have had a revolving door of coaches, assistants, and players. They are either the most unlucky team in the world, or there is something else fundamentally broken.
I think it will have something to do with the fact we are alone here in NZ and there isn't the same pathways and player development as there is in Australia, but it's also got to be a culture thing.
They have the personnel, they are capable of great things, but until the underlying issues are identified and addressed, they will continue to dash fans hopes by being the way they have been for many years.
