Agree, interesting comment given their odds.

As I understand it, he was only appointed in March 2018. If he is already under pressure then either SA Rugby don't have a clue how long it takes to change things inside a sports team for the long term results, or he hasn't the fortitute for high level coaching, or doesn't know how to understand the pressure of losing, something I would have expected someone at his level would have been vetted for or had reasonable experience. I wonder if it's mind games?

Hard to believe that claim has credibility given he has made improvements this year.

Hired in March on a 6-year contract according to what I heard (correctly or incorrectly) on 1 (Tahi) News last night.

But surely looking at the number of coaches at the Blues lately would allow you the luxury of considering its not always the coaches who are the issue.

Yeah, but I don't for a moment believe that he gets sacked if they don't beat the AB's. Otherwise there are unlikely to be any international coaches still in their job at the end of the year, if this is the yardstick you get measured by.

Yes he has a 6 year contract. There aren't many options to replace him either.

Wonder what the odds are on him lasting six years? About as much as an Aussie Prime Minister lasting that long. Maybe $1.01

I can see whole lot of international coaching changes after next years RWC.

I feel Sopaga's comments were a little on the nose. Yes, I get that money talks, I think most people understand that.

He didn't leave for the money I don't think, though it certainly would have been a significant part of it. He left because he wasn't good enough to be in the black jersey COMPARED to others coming through. He had looked like he was going to become a regular contender, but others were fast making a case to usurp his position. When DM was promoted, and he could see RM was likely to as well, he did the sensible thing, realized he likely wouldn't be wearing a black jersey often, and took one of the many decent offers he had. I think if he had a starting 10 jersey week in and week out, he might well have weighed his options differently.

There are only 23 Jerseys to give out each week. A lot of good, even excellent players, will never see regular time in a Black Jersey.

I have ABs by 18, Pumas by 1-7.

Though, I fear the Pumas may have played their best last weekend. I do think they will beat the Wallabies in Argentina though.

IMO Pumas really step up for the ABs, but seem to perform poorly the following week. Has been happening for a few years now.

I hope under Ledesma things may have changed, the Jaguares did go well in Aus this season. I'd be stoked to see them beat the Wallabies, but honestly don't think it's going to happen this time. Happy to be proven wrong.

BB kicking is so inconsistent. If he was hitting them all we would be near 1 try behind. I guess we have to use the best we have. Just saying, its a weakness in ABs we not use to having.

Fantastic game. Not the result, but edge of your seat stuff. Well done to SA, it's great to see some proper fight and competition.

Two weaknesses. Because we didn't do something to fix it and it kept costing us points. DMac should have been kicking as soon as he as on.

Why didn't Owens penalize the Boks for offside at the ruck on the goal line (right in front of the posts)?
Why did Jordie Barrett do a quick throw in when there was no one close enough the receive it?
Why did the ABs play like they were 20 points ahead when they weren't?

Read had an improved game personally, but failed to lead the team effectively. After 12 minutes and 12 points up, it was almost like they set the game on cruise control and just waited for the win to come.

Barrett had one of 'those' games with the boot, and the Bok's defence didn't allow him time to move to make up for it around the field. We need a reliable kicker. How many did Pollard miss? (Admittedly some were easier than Barrett faced).

Looking at the stats the Boks did what the ABs would normally do, convert the chances they were given. And the AB's backline defence was shown up quite badly.

I think Hansen and Co will have their butt kicking boots on at the Monday morning debrief. For the newer ABs that have never lost it will be a 'learning experience' to put it on corporate speak.

Tis but a flesh wound.
