Batman:

apparently they will be trialling adding a sprint race after qualifying to decide the final grid for the sunday race ...

now when do you want to turn on the sprinklers ...friday saturday or sunday ...

https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/article.everything-you-need-to-know-about-f1s-new-sprint-qualifying-format-including.1Lawf6r6Ab0y8ha0satSjx.html

More or less 3 practice sessions, one of which will be good for spectators. Problem is, in the current format you might not have a good quali and be down a few places than expected, or in the trial format you get hit through no fault of your own on turn 1 or later and quali last. The top teams may take the quali race passively, while the lower and mid teams may take the risk and go hard

Points for the sprint race are interesting.  Not many at 3 for first down to 1 for third, but still they are being offered.

Feels like a very dangerous qualifying format, which might give some action all the same.

Race action = good, disputes when a driver is dumped out of the quali by another. Conspiracy arises when RBR sister team accidentally puts Hamilton onto the gravel

My idea is that as we have roughly the same number of races as drivers is that each driver gets each grid spot in the season, so Lewis takes turns starting on pole, 2,3,, to 20. Fair play says every driver has an even rating through the year. Each race will have varying drivers racing through the pack. If it was your turn to start 20th and you get to 5th, and your main rival when he is 20th gets to 8th, you gain ground. It would make for more racing and overtakes, and the lower teams would pick up more points and hence, revenue.

Almost no points on offer for the lower teams, (only top 3 places), so little in it for them.

I meant for my idea on a new quali

The trial idea just means that there are now two opportunities to make sure the slower cars are out of the way. But it may mean that other cars higher up end up at the back, the lower cars could hold some of them out potentially, if the ones crashed out where midpack cars

I am getting SO SICK of the UK bias lately, its worse than usual. Sky F1 need to provide F1 content not a UK fanboy fanfest, its embarrassing to watch.

Is Lewis the best driver that existed? No idea at all, but Im sick of hearing this every race weekend.

Can hardly blame them. Hamilton, Norris, Russell are all fantastic drivers. Is Lewis the best driver that existed? Maybe not, but he's far up there. Turn the lawn mower off and leave the tall poppies standing.

It's been like this for decades. We had years of hearing how "the brits" were doing even when they were down in 12th - 15th (usually Button, Coulthard, etc al). Fine for a terrestrial broadcaster, but not really good enough for a world commentary feed. Either it's a global sport, or it isn't.

The F2/F3 races don't have this problem at all and it's really off-putting for non-British English speakers.

Its hardly professional, especially when they are the main broadcaster. Its not about Norris and Russell, its about the dream god Hamilton. It's pathetic. It would be good to be the main driver in an era where you car was two seconds per lap faster, and where the other driver is shut out. At least Schummy won a title on a car that was not ahead of everyone else, as did Alonso.

Yeah. I don't have an issue with the general Brit bias, but the Hamilton level is on another planet. He isn't God.

Take Ian Smith and Marshall, All Black fans from way back. But they can actually talk about other stuff...They appreciate the sport.  And happy to heap praise on the opposition if required.

But yeah it was a rocking drive last week for Lewis. That he made his own mistake and went a lap down and got it back isn't relevant lol. Crazy. The fact is he made mistakes got lucky, thanks for the points

Mercedes win, looks like they are again too fast, but wait till Barcellona to confirm RBR wont be a title contender. At least RBR has closed the gap, and all of the few passes amongst the top 3 were from mistakes. Racing should be more eventful than past years, bit other than that not a lot to see it seems

8th championship a foregone conclusion

- good driver

- good car

- team built around 1 driver - probably doesn't even know the name of the 2nd driver

- even the race director helps out once in a while (eg track limits)

Good driver

Best car. It seems that RBR have improved to Mercedes level for their Sunday best, but ponly on Sunday best. Mercedes is every day, so best car clearly. Although can only race in clean air. But it seems better on mediums too

Oddly the so called strategy win of the extra pitstop for Lewis was luck. He was stuck behind, had 4 lap newer tyres which he drove hard to catch up , giving away the end of race gains, so he pitted as it was otherwise to sit 2nd for the rest of the race.

Constructors is sorted
