Fantastic start to the season, really testing out every option possible.

Metcalf two games, two forty twentys.

But the highlight for me is the tackle busting ankle breaking stepping centre Ali Leiataua. One half of football vs the storm, 3 try assists and 2 of tries, one of which highlights his explosive speed/strength going 20m straight through 4 players. I agree Cooper Cronk, that RH Centre position is his. I rambled on about him all last season, well hes a year older and a year better, every skill in the game for a centre. Pretty much made the 36 point half. RTS looks good on the left wing, back where he started NRL with the Roosters.

Looks good, lots of classy second and third string options, hopefully wont be needed this year.

Well that was an epic bounce back against one of the pre season favourites who trounced the Cowboys. I have to rant on the bunker, two tries were beyond 50/50 calls. The side on view of the boot you could see was on the line, but he said not enough evidence. Well if they dont use the evidence then whats the point of a bunker.

Anyway, great game from Metcalf at 7, I would like to see him take on the line more with his speed. Young Lieataua is dominating that right wing position. I havnt seen a warriors outside back as hard to tackle since the "Beast". But Ali has all the skills. I like that they using Tuapiki on the right wind outside Ali. We need speed on the wing. I think he would handle any of the spine positions and possibly centre as well despite his size.

RTS is fantastic on the left wing, hes starting to look more X factor which he had lost. That left foot step, or a double left step can create big holes.

This is the Warriors performances I expect from the team. Turn up and defend hard, which they did and then some. Manly were lucky to onlly get one sin bin with all the offside set restarts, just deliberate cheating.

I know its a warriors thread rather than NRL but I support the Raiders and what a game on Saturday night beating Broncos 32-22. I know they probably can't play like that all season but it sure was good when its on.

If you don't have time to watch all the games, the 5 minute highlights on nrl.com are good viewing.

No its meant to be a catch all NRL thread, I just forgot to put a / between Warriors/NRL when I created the thread haha. Yeh the Raiders was a goodie too.

Hard to believe the touch up Manly gave the Cowboys the week before. Warriors have something more potent in their back line this year. RTS being a left foot stepper playing back on the left wing makes a lot of sense.

Or the extended highlights I think they still do (15min I think there abouts), either way both give more context to a match than the tries only thats for sure.

Interesting Pompey is playing ahead of Rocco Berry, who was one of our main scoring players last year. Pompey is a very direct player, doesnt have the ball skills imo, but seldom lets the team down, but Id still be fitting Berry in there. Good to see some speed on the wing with Tuapiki playing for injured DWZ.

Berry and TMM are listed as Ins though, currently on the Reserves lists, but we could see a restructure in the Roosters game. Id like to see Metcalf back at 6 creating overlaps and holes taking the line on with his speed, he makes a lethal weapon for backing up the forwards who turn back in to offload up the middle.

Mighty fine forward pack we have, a lot of line busters, hard med large big minutes players vs the giant 120kg props. I think Leka Helasima is another guy to watch out for this year, he just runs over the top of players, can score from 20m out.

Roosters are not the team they have been the last 5 years, hollowed out quite a lot. But can never count them out, but I hope the Warriors turn up with the same intensity they blasted Manly with.

Warriors v Roosters always produce good close games and I can see this being the same. Home crowd to get the wahs home 1-12 IMO

Whilst it wasnt as expansive as the week before, 3 tries to 1 in a real up the middle hammer each other as hard as possible type encounter was always going to be a big hits match. Erin Clark was brutal with his hit ups first half.

Ali has made that right centre his own, with the ease he makes scoring or setting the wing up.

CHT showing the guys you HAVE to contest the bomb, catching his own to score. 20m out there is no point putting up a bomb if its not contested. I get it from 40m out where your best bet is to pin the player at the 10, but not on the redzone.

hes just gotta play off the bench imo, he adds too much of that absurdly hard to tackle and near the try line will just run over players to score, hes showing so much promise. Its a congested team with a lot more backup this year from RG.

Wish I put more money on it TBH haha.

was stoked to see the warriors back it up at home. Great win. My raiders play later today against manly at brookie. Let’s see how we go.

It would be fantastic to go 3 in a row and be in the 8 by beating the Tigers. But wont be easy, they have a quality spine, with Jerome Luai now playing for them, he is sooo tricky in the halves.

But we have a pretty tasty spine ourselves with CNK, CHT, Metcalf, Egan. Not good to see RTS blow a hammy, he has looked awesome on the left wing with the huge left foot step, often doubles that step when he scores.

Berry is back in Centres with Pompey playing on the wing. However it looks to me like they swapping Ali to left centre, if so thats not a good move, he looked very competent on the right with Tuapiki outside him on the right wing.I guess we will see. If Ali is near the try line he is very hard to stop, but he is very intuitive when to use the winger.

But imo we have big solid forward back and a quality bench to relieve fatigue when needed. As long as they turn up to play and continue playing just the same as they have been, then we should have a good game.

Well that was kind of pleasing, to win a tight one again, we would be 1-3 if it were last year. Especially with our two x factor wingers out. Nice to see some play between the halves as well. But hope we can clean up the defense, still is a better tigers team this year.

Frustrating. Warriors sometimes turn up defensively it feels and then sometimes vs juggernaut teams they lapse and by the time they correct it, its all over. They won the scoreboard once upon it 14-6. had they not let in 6 tries prior, that highlights it well. But not giving up on them, they had beaten 2 top 8 teams the weeks prior, Melb are just something else.

Agree, Storm are just another level above everyone else. Such a stacked team.

This Good friday match between the Bulldogs and Rabbitohs are expecting around 70,000. Should be a great battle

Yeh, plus a true super coach. I think SK was trying to instill the same standards for the Warriors, he spent a few seasons making sure they could stick to that standard, then the year they make the finals, the team starts to dismantle after SJ drama.

Good Friday is always a beauty, two teams with a lot of history. I miss living in Aus so I could go to matches regularly. I find Mt Smart inconvenient to access vs the public transport in the 4 main states in Aus.
