Seifert will probably get is go today TDGEEK :-) not a great start. give him 15 overs and he will get 50.

Fine. You can will him on if you like. Lets say he gets 35 from 28 today, you will be RIGHT, he is a legend lol. If Taylor gets 3 hes not an idiot, if Siefert gets 35 he's not a champ. If you think he is definitely international class, we will see. I'd rather have CdeG all day long

Lol it wouldnt be Taylor if he wasnt run out or runs somebody else out :-). Its part of the fun.

I like the depth of this side with Neesham, Seifert (Latham in WC), Matt Henry, Southee, Sodhi, Boult is a good tail We need a deep batting lineup for the WC.

Colin isnt a keeper.....

Also whilst Colin is a good all rounder, Seifert is a better mid order batsman imo. Just give him a chance, he needs to improve with the gloves, which he is. I promise he can score runs.

We are scoring fast, but they should have been more conservative first 10 overs on this pitch. They Know that, so definitely not to plan. Another wicket and Id say 280 would be dreamy.

Ball is very tacky on the pitch and holding up, which changes the pace once it hits the wicket but about 5kph which is enough to put a batsman in trouble.

I know, but he isnt a specialist batsman either, he ends the middle order, I was just pointing out that there is potential for Neesham to have people to form partnerships with. I felt the test team was missing something in the batting, probably as Colin has been out of form. Perhaps there is potential for Neesham to take it to the next level if he keeps performing. He definitely has it with the bat, averages 33.76 with the bat, but its his bowling, like seifert with the gloves, they wanted to test Neesham with the ball this series, he averages 48 with the ball in Tests, which is below Kane Williamsons. But I think its simply staying accurate because hes got a simple technique, he just needs to be aiming outside the off stump and hit that right length and line over and over. Look at Mcgrath, he was Medium pace and he took wickets simply due to being on that line and length 95% of the time.

Im talking batting, which is quiet obvious. CDG is an international batsman but not consistent. Barely an all rounder, his batting is ok, hois bowling is average. We need to get away from this average mentality we seem to have. Siefert is not up to international level. Stats will have him pull off a decent score from time to time, the other innings he is a liability. Its fine to give him a shot, he has failed, lets move on. better to utilise the time to get Latham scoring at a run rate in the middle order

Colin statisically is our best all rounder, his bowling is much better than Neeshams, averaging 30 with the ball and bat there abouts. But I prefer Neesham because hes a better batsman and we need that depth. You could throw Colin in instead of Matt Henry and that would give us even further depth with both being similar bowling, but Colin a much better batsman. But its his form that worries me.

Something like

Guptil
Munro
Williamson
Taylor
Nichols
Latham (K)
Neesham
Colin DG
Southee
Sodhi
Boult

The thing is batting sets you up bot bowling wins you the match, ultimately you have to get those 10 wickets. So i find it hard to leave Ferguson out for the extra batting of Colin.

Batting cant set you up when he is out of form can it? Its a waste. Neesham is a better bowler, thats very clear. Ignore his first entry to the Black Caps

Im loving this now, as stated the pitch was going to flatten out. NZ now if they continue with these 2 until about 35 overs we will have an awesome platform for 300+, forget WASPs 280.

Which will probably mean Sri lanka will make the mistake of chasing hard in the first 10 overs while the ball is sticking in the pitch and we could see a number of mis hits.

Man if these guys are together at 35 overs we looking at 320+ on a wicket that averages 275 (which is a losing score though). Sri lanka were basically gone in the last match aside from Perera's freakish big hitting, if you had him out for 10 or so they would have been lucky to score 120.

So today they REALLy need to score in the middle order. Much like we are doing.

Ok this is my team for the Word Cup

Guptil
Munro
Williamson
Taylor
Nichols
Latham
Neesham
Henry
Southee
Sodhi
Boult

Im not sure how deep the squad is, but Id also have Fergusson, Watling, George Worker, and MAYBE Wagner. I think its 5 extras? So Wagner who I cant understand never getting an ODI. Hes as good at swinging the ball as anyone, so in England on rotation he could be lethal. Just for resting the pacemen against lesser sides, especially Southee and Boult. Fergusson will tear the minnows apart and Wagner with both swing and bounce, he could be useful for rotation purposes.

Santner would have been another option if his batting consistency has lifted, as Williamson is our second Spinner currently, but if Santner was consistently scoring I dont see why they havnt tested him out but that would mean replacing Neesham. His bowling is accurate which while not threatning is good for getting those dot balls. 28 with the bat is handy and hes only just above the 30 they consider a good all rounder to be under with the ball. But his game is more Economy at only 4.9 which is good in the modern game.

But its a 15 man squad so only 4 extras. I think they already know who they are going with.

You are a hard man to please, Ross looks sublime and Nichols is over 100SR. :-)

It wont be Yawn if Sri Lanka finally score in the middle order and leave Perera 60 off 80 balls.

Since 2012 Ross Taylor has averaged 60.11, WOW. Against all team, everywhere. Not surprisingly Williamson in the same period has averaged 58. No wonder Ross and Kane hold all kinds of partnership records.
