Munro is the new McCullum, and his average is 19. But he is not BMC and his average make him a liability. as does the pressure that flows through every other batsman starting with Guptill. I'm offering bigly that he can stay, but much further down the order, thats a big concession, but he cannot open, but he will and he will be in the WC, and that ois a huge fail. Guptill is safe. I dont want CdeG either, another part time batsman that gives a reward every now and then. and a part time bowler

The thing is Munro can open, but he cant open and hit 6s immediately. I personally think its Stead who is the issue in this. Both the 10rpo opening and the 300 goal, are backward. And whilst Munro can definitely open, I think he would be off much use with an over of getting his eyes in and then smashing the ball, so swap him with Latham.

As per the question on Latham, there have been many great Capatains who have opened and Kept with the gloves. I dont see it being too much of an issue.

Where did you get 19 from, his average is 25...

Whats funny about that is before they moved Mccullum from 7 to opener his average was about 19, he finished with an average of only 30 and SR only 96. We think of him as this 10rpo type god, but the BBL is showing hes not that good and never was. A SR of 96 is less than 6rpo. Munro could easily average 40 if Stead gave him an acheivable game plan as opener.

First Class Munro averaged 52 vs Mccullums 37.

I think its clear Munro isnt the issue, its what NZ are trying to achieve in the first 10.

What will be interesting today will be around India. Now they are without their best bowler, and now their best batsman and Captain in Kohli, I think the teams are very even. But I cant wait to see the decisions made by the Indian captain should things get out of hand.

I dont know how even they are today. If Munro goes for nix, we will continue to improve, out with 3 overs to bat. At best. As we are supposed to bat for 300+, and with more intent, thats worked well so far. If they play this way it will ruin these guys, its been a massive failure so far. When you are gone in 43 overs and thats an improvement, for the third game, you have to ask yourself whats wrong. Its p!ssing me off a bit, we are better than these three games. We should be c;lose to them in all three, hoping for a bit of luck and a top effort by a couple to have a winning show. But its been over after 10 batting overs. Ill do my lawns instead and pick it up later. If Munro gets 62 off 24 my desire for him to go is unchanged. His next score will statistically be in 6 months. The last 3 games and how we went in SL series, these lats two games are just noise that we cannot go by is all we need to know

What NZ choosing to bowl?

I think as soon as we stop being asked to hit everyball for 6 from the start we will see the best of Colin Munro. Much like how Mccullum got out in the WC final, first ball, trying to hit a 6 off an unhittable yorker. and we scored mid 150s. It just doesnt work

Maybe but he has said multi times that's his game. And thats ok, if he got the 62 from 25 every now and then, and contributed an average of 35 at 140. I personally feel he is one problem and the 300 fetish is the other. Unless he is possibly affected more? Ill cut him that slack, but as he has been dropped, hard to tell

Yep, but is all a test, Astle, Colin D, Henry in Sodhi out

3 all rounders instead of batsmen.

Definitely our weakest side so far but its all just testing players from here to the WC.

Its not that weak, Munro is 1/10 so far, CdeG is better week by week, Astle I dunno.

I think both Munro and Guptil are affected by this unobtainable 10RPO start, lets see how Nicholls, goes, if he doesnt make it do we drop him or change our strategy and stick to what most teams do, bat to the conditions, respect the opening bowlers and 10 overs, build and innings and player 10rpo in the final 10. I know Stead wishes he had the team with Mccullum but he doesnt.

Shame we resting Southee again, it looks good for swing.

No Dhoni either, even with this messy NZ testing team, we may have a good chance

Agree

I agree with going for gold run wise but WHEN that is on. Not ALWAYS on BALL ONE but WHEN its time to step on the gas somewhat. Latham and Taylor showed thqat when they "opened" last gane

I dont mind Astle being tested for Sodhi as he would be our second line wrist spinner.

Yeah hes handy with the bat, hes definitely not going to move the ball as much, so its giving up one aspect for the batting. Id like to have seen both Sodhi and Astle on this pitch, I think Sodhi would have been a handful and I think Astle might be as well. Even Santner will get some turn which with his accuracy could be lethal.
