Why Guppy, I know you are doing what you are told. This is what I hate, Guptil and Munros careers are being judged on Steads stupidity.

Cmon Nichols, its supposedly easy, your turn.

id have like to have seen some of the all rounders who need to be tested for their batting be thrown in ahead of williamson, like Santner. He has supposedly improved, it would be nice to see it as hes failed in his games so far, but so has everybody else.

Lol I haven’t been watching as busy so I check my phone and we rolled them for 92. I haven’t seen why but that’s weird. It’s a vastly weakened team I had to re read the team as many new names but even so. So we went will bat and win but my point is don’t take this as the new and improved team. But the bowlers must have bowled some howlers?

Haha for sure not, this isnt our 1st 11. Just Trent Boult was amazing, you will have to watch highlights, and 2 stupid shots to Colin and it was all but over. Guptil took a very special catch and Taylor dropped one at first slip.

See how Williamson gets up and over the ball, thats what everybody but Taylor in our batting team needs to learn how to do. It negates an edge behind.

Id be very surprised if they dropped Munro for the WC, otherwise they need to drop Nichols. But what I think this might be a sign of is what we have been suggesting, putting the much faster run rate batsman down the line and drop this opening concept from the coach. Its not Munros or Guptils fault, we need to make sure that is recognised.

No scoreboard pressure, all of a sudden we at at 7rpo after 5 overs.

I think the 1st 11 can rip through any team during the WC in Egnland due it suiting our bowling styles Swing and Wrist Spin (it will turn a lot there).

Haha I think that would be the other way around had you been here :-).

No Kholi will be furious for sure, he is the real deal nothing but cricket. He reminds me of Ricky Ponting except hes a better Character and can handle a joke than Ponting ;-p

I dont think our team is in as much trouble as some make out. I just think we need to get away from Guptil and Munro making massive first 10 overs.

As they have said about India, they get to 30 overs and then really put the foot down.

The ball is moving something Chronic for Boult and hadnt in the Mount which was a batsmans paradise, in which I think a full strength NZ squad would have competed with India.

Now we are on a pitch that is good for batting, but also Spins a lot, and more importantly Boult is moving the ball in the air with accuracy. You take away their Captain and their second best most experienced iconic batsman and put it all together and happens. Is what happens when a swing bowler is on form. You have both Boult and Southee in the WC where it WILL swing.

No, we cannot that's been proven

Its hard to draw any conclusions here. No pressure its easy. Nichols wasn't fast button need to be, unlike others he is still there

Back to reality, Ive seen NZ get 500+ on a 5 day match, I've seen NZ out for under 50

Statistical anomaly. Munro out, CDG out, then Im happy

Id say the lesson is, NZ can beat india without the best bowler and best batsman and one of the best batsman of all time who we have nobody to match the batsman, when our bowlers bowl to their potential this is what happens.

The who series is a test, you shuoldnt be reading anything out of it though. From either team. We havnt played our 1st eleven in a single ODI.

So, they decrease their team, was it just Kohli or someone else as well? We change our team by dropping a non performer and Nichols slots in. Drop Sodhi and Astle slots in. Astle didnt add anything, Nichols didnt either as no pressure

The SOLE reason for the win was Boult, no one else. I doubt that adding Kohli back would have made this back to can only bat for 40 overs, then 43, to last night. ODI's have abberations which is what India is calling it. But lets see next game, if you are correct, then we win by a similar margin,m bowl them out for 80, 90, 100 or so, we clean up super quickly.

Cricket is the only game I know where an ODI innings that last 3 + hours can end in 10 bowls, or a 1.25 day innings can end in 10 bowls. Thats theoreritically off course, but we have had many innings of well under 92 in a game. Ducks will line up and cause this, but it would be very foolish to take this result as ball park for the two current teams. Their team got weaker by Kohli, ours got better with Nichols that wont cause last night

Ok mate all jokes aside Im going to have to spell it out :-).

I dont think you are quite in touch with what is happening and why, the World Cup is in June-July. NZ didnt go into this series expecting to win it, they went into it with their only opportunity to test for filling out the squad. At no point did NZ even consider a full strength squad in any of the games even though it could have.

Munro wasnt dropped, they are testing someone else at opening and tested 3 all rounders to see how they would go with the bat. They have 3 spots open in the non 1st eleven to fill. Unfortunately Boult bowled to well. I would only expect to see Southee taken out of rest if Boult is given a rest. Like I said I expected NZ to lose 3-2.

India are doing the same. They are resting Kohli (the best batsman in the Modern era), Jspirt Bumreah who averages below 21 in both Test and ODI bowling and easily the best pace bowler in the world currently, and MS Dhoni who has a niggle. The controversy is over they will be rested for the IPL. I dont think they can legally stop them. And as MS Dhoni has said, Bowling 4 over wont tire a bowler, if anything it will keep them in best competitive shape. Same for the batsmen.

Interestingly Aus arent resting all players in the test squad and this time not struggling like the 1st test vs Sri Lanka, but definitely testing some batsmen. Which i can understand.

However Eng got pasted by the West Indies in the 1st test and look to be carrying that on with all out for 187 and WI 30/0 at stumps. Ill have to study the squad but it is likely they are resting their WC squad in the tests.

I expect NZ to do the same as what they are doing with these ODIs in the Bangers 3 test series.

My post was about the win. Stead said its about this series, but since we have been hammered they are now testing everyone. Bit late for that. They know everyone. This win is not representative. India can afford to rest players and try a few out, while that is what we are now doing its a late desperate move. We play Bangers and try new players and thrash them, means nothing as that's not representative of a WC game. India is. India thrashed us, weakened their team, it wa still a 50/50 game, except we got lucky with a lopsided score which happens in ODI's. The problem we still have is batting against a top team when we have this need to score big first ball, nothing has really changed.
