Spot on Hesson about Munro, he can bat in the middle, he can bring the team home, he can bowl as good as anybody.

He is definitely in th WC squad, so imo the 3rd game he should play 5 or 6 given seifert isnt selected Tom will play. You have Munro, Santner, Neesham, Colin D, Southee Boult and you have a t20 tail.

Personally Id prefer to not play Nicholls due to consistency and capability, Id go with Tom opening. Which makes that final 6 much easier to select for batting.

If its not going to swing in Eng and 350+ is normal, NZ really need a t20 style finish to the innings and use our class players to get 5-6rpo for first 35 overs, which will see us with 350.

Will be interesting to see if they do stick with Nicholls in white ball, if he will improve as an opener. I feel he cant bring the team home at 6. and 3, 4 and maybe 5 are taken. So lets see what he can do consistency wise.

You beat me to it. Doully, and I've heard others have a high opinion of Nichols. If he can be super reliable, as in staying in, and can lift the SR later, that has a lot of value. It can take wicket pressure off the others, and if you want a T20 tail, we need a platform, he might be it.

Nicholls dropped. Thats where you need a Seifert in a team who will take hard catches like that.

I like what Im seeing today. As long as Munro is slotted into the middle order for the final 15 overs. But I think Tom scores quicker, so now we have Tom not getting much ball time. But at least he can score if we fail in the top order.

It makes me wonder though, does nicholls enjoy white ball cricket.

Lets see what Nichols and Huppy get us to by 35 and add 210 from the remaining wickets T20 style 14RPO. We wont have the stress of the ball doing a lot or worrying that we havnt scored anything, and if we have 8-10 wickets left we can truely go hard.

I think Guppy looks better with Tom and now Nichols. His last opening century partnership was with Tom Latham two years ago.

50 runs is 50 runs.

Now if Willamson adds 50 with guppy a bit faster, that 15 overs at 140 rpo would be on. But I think they should go now just to prove the point as its not a good totall.

His SR was rising, he can hit.

Just remember this is Bangladesh

Id always favour a slower start if that boost the back end. We falter, thats our game, if we are pressured by a RR and we don't have 563 wickets in hand :-)  Steady , increasing, then ramping home will always beat fast, average (as have lost wickets), fast, then out a few overs out

What annoys me about these commentators is that they say the same things, if we are playing India or Bangladesh. They dont allow for a massive difference in the sides, I guess thats to keep TV coverage positive.

That was selfish Kane, that was plumb LBW, yet Taylor is in a howler and you dont call it even when you wouldnt lose a call.

Yes it is a big difference bangers vs IND. Although I think first 11 we are very close to India.

If we are going to leave our charge until then end then we need to start practicing it now. 35 overs.

There they go again, beaten badly by India 4-1 now getting the winning feeling here. This is not a WC ideal prep series.

Oh well, we have 3 ok warmup matches end May.

yeah we always knew india would be the only real test. i dont think the squad will take much from the loss in the odi or the win in the t20 as they were not first 11 in either games testing players, and the same here, i dont think the wins will mean too much.

with banger batting first so far only the bowlers get semi tested, Astle is the only unkown. who i quite like. but id hate to replace sodhi for astle. hopefully both make the full squad.

If bangers could just bat out 50 overs they could have a semi good total
