Wow, we are clearly better than India?? And India only get a mention because of Kohli and they have the best fast bowler, and after they took us to pieces at home?

Just the conditions, it doesnt swing much in India or Australia.

But I would put India ahead of Aus as the cry babies will be straight into the thick of it.

West indies, Aus, SA I think will be fighting for 4th.

Southee much better captaincy than Williamson, As was Taylor and even Latham in the ODI was better. All 3 more aggressive.

And It pissed me off that Williamson took Wagner off when he was on the Verge of his 5th wicket first innings, and he got a 5fa this innings, so would be a 10bag, not something Bowlers get every day.

But Wagner definitely MOTM imo. Bowlers have to take 20 wickets, Wagner got 9. Amazing to finish a test in 2 days and 1 session. That is putting the foot on throat, still think we could have finished it off yesterday but would have required some big hitting by us to get there 40 odd.

We need to have nerves of steel, something that Kiwi sports teams have a reputation of lacking. If its going well, we get our tails up. If its not going well, we fold under pressure. We can play a third rate sports team and we win by more than what we should, tails are up, no pressure, lets let loose. Play a good team and it's all nerves and play safe. Seen it Too Many Times (C) Mental As Anything

2011 WC though was is ignoring our nerves and just playing Mcullums style and losing the final in a short race. I do agree though thats why we need the hitters mixed in with the players with lower strike rates to keep things going and to bat down to 8 minimum.

Not much noise here. World Cup starts in one week. In case not everyone knows, NZ vs India warm up match is on Sky tonight at 9-20pm. And a warmup highlights on at 7-30pm

That was a horrible game to watch but a great result. Williamson didn't bat fluidly but with so much courage (and a big dose.of luck). Neesham and particularly de Grandholme were huge as well. We're only one win away from the semis.

I'm pretty happy to be in a timezone where the cricket is on when I get home from work ,😀

Tight, but while we can allow for Munro to fail, Guppy was out accidentally? Hit wicket? Taylor always gives us a result, but not today. Latham reliable bit not today. On that we underperformed quite a lot but still won. Had any of thise three got another 30, the win would have seemed a lot easier

A batsman failing means we underperformed? Given that the best batsmen fail approximately 50% of the time I don't see it.

The pitch was freaking horrible - two paced with variable bounce. I thought we played ok without ever being totally in control. Our bowling was mostly very good and we managed to get two big partnerships (with a bit of luck).

Yes, I cant excuse failures, they happen every game. But what I meant was Ross is very reliable, so he missed out, ok with that. Guppy went out bowled he slipped. In this match we lost more than what we would normally lose to stats as far as nit contributing is concerned, thats how I saw it.

Ir was odd as Boult could not swing it but DeG did. That another odd under perform. he might swing and get no wickets, but he usually swings and is a top wicket taker internationally. But we still won. In ODI's anyone can win, even playing well. But we are still unbeaten and if India wasn't rained out we lose, but still a good points tally as we are really No.4 here if you out AUS ahead. It does seem that with the cheaters back, they are back to top level

No one really got the ball to swing. De Grandholme was getting the ball to go mainly off the track with a little bit of wobble. The most effective bowlers in the match were Morris and Rabada with the spinners also hard to get away.

You have a fairly bizarre way of defining underperformance. If you don't account for the conditions you are missing what is actually going on.

We had a couple of guys miss out and some horrible luck as well as some good luck. That's the way cricket is for all team, it has high variability of individual performance from game to game.

Maybe Im too hopeful. Ironically I feel we will be blitzed in the semi's or final if we sneak that in.

I find the Stuff comments strange after last nights win over WI. I didn't watch it, but I see we were WELL ahead, and a WI batsman went nuts and almost pulled it off, good effort.

Stuff says

New Zealand kept giving him lives, too, in some near comical catching in the deep that will concern coach Gary Stead.

Ok, if I read this, it tells me that NZ is useless at fielding and catching. Untrue. So they had a bad night at the office? We are known as one of the nest folding sides out there, still are. That doesn't mean that we never fumble or drop a catch ever.

Moving on though. ENG had another shock loss. In ODI's anything can happen but PAK was on a 12 match losing streak, SL is just not right yet. Afghans almost rolled India, and that after getting off to a bad batting start.
