Pretty insensitive of Trump, but then again, he doesn't really care about anyone but himself, and I doubt that any of the attendees in Waco would have cared that he chose that date to do his ridiculous "rally".

One News reporting the YouTuber as a "member of the public" when that person clearly identified themselves in the video as acting for "Counterspin Media" is a bit hard to understand.

Apparently the person approached Davidson not long after she was hit by a motorcycle handlebar - that's not going to help.

I don't know if the motorbike driver was a gang member. If he was, it would be ironic. Earlier this month, she did tweet gangs were part of "diverse communities, who have been subject to enduring and systemic racism"

She has since doubled down and refused to apologise, she needs to go or at minimum lose her portfolio.

I agree it will be interesting to see how this comes out in party support polling for the Greens. Imo it won't make a significant difference for the Greens. Luxon is trying to make something from it imo it won't increase National support at all. Big storm little teacup.

She has refused to apologise and tried to "correct" or skirt her claims, while still trying to prove her claim is correct, maybe double down was a bit of hyperbole but she certainly hasnt backtracked.

The Reddit threads are full of claimed greens voters claiming to have changed their minds after this, grains of salt needed for sure.

I dont think National would profit from the Greens voters leaving, more likely they would gravitate towards Labour, Winston First or other minor parties.

The Washington Post - Opinion - House Republicans debate public urination

After three months on the job, House Republicans have so far failed to address the top issues facing the country.

But at least they have addressed the No. 1 issue. [pun alert]

The House Oversight Committee hauled D.C. government officials before Congress this week to grill them on what Republicans call the “crisis” of crime in the capital, one of approximately 50,000 “crises” the GOP majority has identified.

And Boebert was just bursting to release a stream of invective.

“Did you or did you not decriminalize public urination in Washington, D.C.?” the Colorado Republican demanded of a witness, D.C. Council member Charles Allen.

Allen looked puzzled. “No, we did not,” he replied.

“Did you lead the charge to decriminalize public urination in Washington, D.C.?” Boebert demanded.

“No, ma’am,” Allen answered.

Boebert persisted. “Did you ever vote in favor of decriminalizing public urination?”

Allen said he voted to keep public urination as a criminal offense.

“We have records that show you were in favor of removing that criminal offense and allowing public urination!” Boebert charged.

The councilman explained that, though the D.C. criminal-code reform commission proposed making public urination a civil offense, the council voted to maintain it as a criminal offense.

Thus did the floodgates open on the Great Public Pee Pee Debate of 2023.
