Not all Americans idiots are from the deep South. Plenty of dummies in Hollywood, California

Lie Witness News - Trump Banning Beards

Jimmy Kimmel Live

Trump is busy looking to add new countries to his travel ban. It's unclear which countries would be added to the ban, so we decided to have some fun with it.

We went on the street and asked people what they thought of Trump's new ban on all foreigners with beards, which he hasn't asked for... yet.

But will that stop folks from weighing in on it? We find out in a foreign facial hair edition of "Lie Witness News".

The New York Times - Government Accountability Office Report Says Trump Administration Broke Law in Withholding Ukraine Aid

Jan. 16, 2020

WASHINGTON — The Trump administration violated the law in withholding security assistance aid to Ukraine, a nonpartisan federal watchdog agency said, weighing in on a decision by President Trump that is at the heart of the impeachment case presented to the Senate on Thursday.

The agency, the Government Accountability Office, said the White House’s Office of Management and Budget violated the Impoundment Control Act when it withheld nearly $400 million this summer for “a policy reason,” even though the funds had been allocated by Congress.

The decision to freeze the aid was directed by the president himself, and during the House impeachment inquiry, administration officials testified that they had raised concerns about its legality to no avail.

“Faithful execution of the law does not permit the president to substitute his own policy priorities for those that Congress has enacted into law,” the accountability office wrote in an opinion released Thursday. “The withholding was not a programmatic delay.” ...

Ukrainian Lev Parnas threatens to release new incriminating evidence every time Trump claims not to know him

Vanity Fair, by Bess Levin

“I welcome him to say that even more. Every time he says that I’ll show him another picture. He’s lying.”

There’s literally nothing comforting about the Trump administration, but, as we’ve come to learn over the past three years, there are things we can rely on.

For instance, we can rest easy in the knowledge that for every moronic, belligerent, unintelligible, or self-serving action taken by Donald Trump, one can easily find a tweet he sent prior to becoming president warning against doing literally the exact same thing. (This phenomenon is known as “there’s always a tweet,” and, 9 times out of 10, concerns Barack Obama.)

We can go to sleep on a Tuesday and know that by the time we wake up on Wednesday, the president will have said something certifiably insane, like that the sound from windmills “causes cancer.” And, we can rest assured that every single time a person in Trump’s orbit is either personally accused of wrongdoing or accuses him of similar behavior, he’ll pretend not to know the person, even if he’s met them on numerous occasions and especially if there’s photographic evidence.

Today‘s example naturally comes in the form of the president’s denial re: knowing Lev Parnas.

As a quick reminder, Parnas is the indicted business associate of Trump’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, who reportedly played a major role in the plot to pressure Ukraine into investigating Joe Biden, having allegedly been recruited by Trump during a party at the White House.

On Tuesday, Democrats released a trove of ridiculously incriminating evidence obtained from Parnas, including notes he took about Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky and text messages concerning forcing out U.S. ambassador Marie Yovanovitch (and what sure looks like a highly disturbing surveillance scheme.)

On Wednesday, Parnas appeared on The Rachel Maddow Show, during which he told her, “President Trump knew exactly what was going on. He was aware of all my movements. I wouldn’t do anything without the consent of Rudy Giuliani, or the president.”

Republican Senators Maintain They’ll Weigh All Evidence Before Carrying Trump Out On Shoulders

The Onion (parody website)

WASHINGTON—Stressing that their duty to uphold the Constitution required impartiality in their role as jurors, Republican senators told reporters Friday that they would weigh all evidence before lifting President Donald Trump into the air and carrying him outside on their shoulders.

“Look, as senators, we swore a solemn oath to deliver justice, and I intend to abide by that precisely as we use this trial to scrutinize the facts and then determine exactly how—and indeed, if—we will storm into the Oval Office, hoist the delighted president aloft, and regale him with spirited rounds of ‘Hip, hip, hurray,’” said Senator Mitch McConnell, noting that his awesome responsibility as the chamber’s majority leader required him to tamp down on any partisan speculation on whether Senate Republicans would rush to raise the president up onto their shoulders while singing “He’s A Jolly Good Fellow” or if Senate Republicans would opt for a more stately procession in which they conveyed the recently acquitted Trump past each and every Democratic congressperson’s office.

“Unlike some of my liberal colleagues, I understand my solemn role in this trial is to examine all the information at hand before passing judgment.

Then, and only then, can we know whether it’s a reasonable course of action to deploy some form of red-white-and-blue confetti while repeatedly tossing President Trump into the air.

Until then, it would simply be irresponsible to comment on whether or not we will incorporate party horns, noisemakers, or a big cake covered with lit sparklers into the proceedings.”

At press time, Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin had commended McConnell on his commitment to impartiality as they came to a swift conclusion on whether or not they should cue up Kool and the Gang’s “Celebration” on the Senate’s speaker system.

The thread for scandals not directly involving Trump has been locked, so I will just post here that former Republican congressman Chris Collins has been sentenced to 26 months in federal prison for insider trading and then lying about it to the FBI. Collins originally made the news by being the first member of congress to endorse Trump. He was then forced to resign from congress so now has become the first congressional convict to endorse Trump.

Chris Collins has revealed himself to be greedy, dishonest and untruthful. He cheated to avoid financial loss and he lied about it. This is the kind of supporter Trump attracts. I can't wait to see what else emerges as new details about the dealings of Trump and his corrupt administration of thieves and liars continue to leak out.

It was a pretty old one. Called I think Republican scandals not connected to Trump or something like that. I have requested unlocks in the past but in this case it also did peripherally involve Trump so I decided to just post it here.

The Washington Post - Trump privately detailed the Soleimani airstrike to donors at Mar-a-Lago fundraiser

Jan. 19, 2020

President Trump delivered a dramatic account of the airstrike that killed Iranian Gen. Qasem Soleimani during a private dinner with deep-pocketed donors Friday night at Mar-a-Lago, according to audio files obtained by The Washington Post. ...

The president said nothing about an “imminent attack” on U.S. interests or threats to four U.S. embassies as he previously has to justify the unilateral military strike that escalated tensions in the region and opened debate on presidential war powers.

Instead, he spoke broadly about Soleimani as “the father of the road side bomb” responsible forevery young, beautiful man or woman who you see walking around with no legs, no arms.” * ...

this quote is bizarre, even by Trump standards.  😕

"Real time with Bill Maher" has reappeared after a two month vacation. The "Overtime" segment is not broadcast, only on Youtube.

The full episode, one hour, is only available via alternative sources. However ~32 minute official segments are on YouTube.

Really great guests and panel speakers, including Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. During the interview, Maher called Trump “a racist Telletubby”

Nancy Pelosi:

“Here’s what I do worry about: our country, in its greatness, can absorb one term by the present occupant of the White House. Not two terms.”

“The President was self-impeaching himself every day.”

“Impeachment is forever. No matter what the Senate ever does it can’t be erased…He was disloyal to his oath of office. One he crossed that bridge it wasn’t a question of if he was worth it. The constitution was worth it.”

Democratic candidate Andrew Yang made an appearance. While I love him, no one expect him to go far. He's a 45 year old former tech executive warns of the perils of automation and wants to provide every American with a “universal basic income.”

Here's the monologue
