I am not a Democratic supporter as such, but today's polarised binary world doesn't leave a lot of choice. If you are not a Democrat, what realistically is left? I am certainly not a Republican. There used to be 'good' Republicans, fiscal and/or social conservatives who had real values and believed in playing by the rules. Those now seem to be mostly gone. They have been largely replaced by Trump puppets who don't care about democracy or the Constitution or due process or anything except winning by any means fair or foul. I think these people are despicable cop-outs and a real threat to democratic freedom. For lack of any better alternative, I support the Democrats.

Most members of this forum are based in NZ and don't have a dog in this race. For the most part CNN and Fox are talk channels. People get talk and news confused all the time. Personally I'm a bit more aware of Fox than CNN. Probably because people in this topic are posting reactions to Fox talk shows. Talk news about talk news about news..

Realistically there is "Independent" or "uncommitted" or what ever you care to call it.

 

Last 4 elections I have voted differently and have typically voted for a different party to the local MP.

 

I have voted for what I believe are the right policies, but have also voted for whom I believed was the most competent local representative , too often they are not one and the same thing.

 

In NZ we are lucky, we have an independent authority who sets the electoral boundaries.

 

In the US most of them are set by the incumbent party, so gerrymandering is rife, as is voter de-registration, etc.

 

No one should look at the US and believe it is a real democracy.

At the time of the Philadelphia convention, no other country in the world directly elected its chief executive, so the delegates were wading into uncharted territory. Further complicating the task was a deep-rooted distrust of executive power. Worth noting that the Constitution and the French revolution happened at about the same time. The latter scared the hell out of the ruling classes and undoubtedly had to do with the framers not wanting to give the people too much direct power.

I'm sure Trump has done some good things, but so has Adolf Hitler.

Adolf gets credit for the creation of the Volkswagen Beetle. He also motivated Jews to establish Israel.

Much like Trump's love of the coveted Time magazine cover, Adolph was on Time magazine's covers several time including.Time's man of the year in 1939.

Adolf Hitler loved his mother.

Both Trump and Adolf Hitler were called for war time duty, before becoming leaders. Unlike Trump, who has hid from duty by bribing a doctor, Adolf Hitler actually served his country.

Where Trump had to hire a ghost writer to pen his book, Hitler actually wrote his own.

Trump has lived with a silver spoon in his mouth his entire life, and either handed success on a golden platter by his father gifts, or gained it with misappropriation, usually by means of abusing the legal system. While Adolf spent some time as a starving artist.

Hitler was reportedly a teetotaler, nonsmoker, and vegetarian.

So doing a few good things does not make Trump even a sub-par human.

I think females wasps who inject their eggs into living caterpillars probably have more empathy for their victims than Trump.

I think parasitic African eye worms are more pleasant company than Trump.

You could say I'm not a fan of Trump.

 

 

 

And the other great thing about Hitler - he was the guy who shot Hitler 😅

While I don’t doubt that it will accelerate the plans of some already in the process of leaving, I’d give pretty low odds that a big chunk of those jobs are going back to the US. Elsewhere in Asia, like Vietnam maybe, but not to the US.

I am well-aware of the literal meaning. I was referring to the corruption of government institutions and their subversion to the interests of the rulers. America has been corrupted by those at the top and 'banana republic' was the most insulting characterisation I could think of to describe this travesty of what it used to stand for.

I am speechless, but then this is the way Trump wants things, as if a street fighter mentality, but now he has influence in the DOJ and doing the same street style corruption tactics.

 

Did anyone hear Jesse's interview with Rick Wilson yesterday.
