Batman:

type what we like, after analysing the super tuesday results (by my own analysis) Trump is getting his second term.

prediction: Biden vs Trump but if the Dems have a bitter fight to the bitter end (like last time) that will tear apart the Dems and Trump wins again.

No question at this point. I predicted this months ago... would rather have been wrong though.

The impeachment achieved nothing except give Trump the opportunity to say "Totally Vindicated".

The Dems have had four years to come up with a decent candidate, and it comes down to a couple of near octogenarians who have both failed to even secure the nomination in previous bids for the presidency.

QFT.

Democrats should have had one single name put forward when the primaries started. As it is, it's stupid.

There are important storm clouds which will cause Trump grief, some by his doing, some outside his control.

The Chinese got a double whammy. A slowdown due to Trump's insane trade war, followed by another slowdown due to COVID-19.

It's already causing a global slowdown. The question is how big, and will it strike hard at conservatives voters like farmers and business owners?

COVID-19 is making the US stock market nervous. Americans tend to be happy when the economy is happy.

The virus also works against conservatives rage against all goverment (cutting WHO budget, various science related cuts). It also points out weaknesses in the US healthcare system, and the relative benefit of Obamacare.

Trump really is the least qualified person in the world to provide comfort, and provided a calming influence.

The minority vote may have a factor, at 27.4%, and of course female are 50% of the population.

Since the population is getting older, but not retired, they will be more people looking for security in their retirement. Again not a strength for any incumbent, who has to make hard decisions.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's aare major Middle East events that test Trump's abilities also. He certainly has no allies, save the Israelis hard-liners.

This is overstated by a long shot. Primaries are often bad. That's not an issue.

The real issue for the Ds last time is Clinton's campaign failing to address issues of concern to voters in key states, and in some cases failing to campaign at all, taking votes for granted.

Republicans though, seem united. Trump's their man. Dems need to unite. But will they

Batman: Republicans though, seem united. Trump's their man.

Trump is the President of the United States. Trump has reasonable positive popularity, even if he has strong negative sentiment at the same time. It would have been a difficult task for a republican to stand against him and win the nomination in those conditions. There was talk but it's pretty obvious any serious republican challengers looked at that and quit. There were none.

American politics hasn't really progressed much from the time of the Founding Fathers.

Old white men with money (not so much in Sanders case) wanting to run the show and lauding it over the peasants. A couple of hundred years ago 2 of them would have had slaves and I'm sure DT would bring back slavery if he thought he could get away with it.

The New York Times - Judge Calls Barr’s Handling of Mueller Report ‘Distorted’ and ‘Misleading’

March 5, 2020

WASHINGTON  - A federal judge on Thursday sharply criticized Attorney General William P. Barr’s handling of the report by the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, saying that Mr. Barr put forward a “distorted” and “misleading” account of its findings and lacked credibility on the topic.

Mr. Barr could not be trusted, Judge Reggie B. Walton said, citing “inconsistencies” between the attorney general’s statements about the report when it was secret and its actual contents that turned out to be more damaging to President Trump.

Mr. Barr’s “lack of candor” called into question his “credibility and, in turn, the department’s” assurances to the court, Judge Walton said.

The judge ordered the Justice Department to privately show him the portions of the report that were censored in the publicly released version so he could independently verify the justifications for those redactions.

The ruling came in a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit seeking a full-text version of the report.

The differences between the report and Mr. Barr’s description of it “cause the court to seriously question whether Attorney General Barr made a calculated attempt to influence public discourse about the Mueller report in favor of President Trump despite certain findings in the redacted version of the Mueller report to the contrary,” wrote Judge Walton, an appointee of President George W. Bush. ...

Read Judge Walton’s ruling.

In this case Trump's willful ignorance could cost thousands of American lives - he has given dangerously misleading advice, and many of his followers will believe it.  😕
