The Washington Post - Trump orders GM to manufacture ventilators under the Defense Production Act
today
President Trump on Friday compelled General Motors to manufacture ventilators to help handle the surge of coronavirus patients, using his power under the Defense Production Act. ...
“General Motors MUST immediately open their stupidly abandoned Lordstown plant in Ohio, or some other plant, and START MAKING VENTILATORS, NOW!!!!!!” he wrote.
This is like ordering your local butcher to suddenly become a baker and deliver bread tomorrow, in industrial quantities.
Ventilators are complex, high-tech life support devices, which must be totally reliable.
Designing and building a ventilator from scratch could take years - and design or build faults could easily be lethal.

I was reading an article about this. He's so dumb he demanded GM to use a factory they closed earlier to make ventilators. He only missed the fact the factory was sold to another company last year.
He's dumb and ignorant as a pie.

As always, it is about how GM can help save the baby-man from himself. Again, how can this go on at times like this?
When the fire storm has gone through, and the body count is in the many thousands, it will be other people's fault. Obama and Hilary will be in for it again. GM might get a mention as well.
America, I despair.

At least a pie fulfills a useful function in life.
The Washington Post - Trump risks the lives of millions to save himself
today
People are dying. Businesses are failing. Workers are losing jobs.
But above all we as a nation must keep in mind the terrible cost borne by President Trump.
“It cost me billions of dollars to become president,” he said at a White House briefing Sunday evening that was, ostensibly, about the coronavirus response.
He felt so proud of the sacrifice he’d gladly and selflessly made that he repeated the sentiment four more times.
“I will say that it cost me billions of dollars to be president and especially with all the money I could have made for the last three, four years.” ...
This soliloquy of self, at a briefing to the nation about desperate hospitals and scarce medical supplies, displayed the utter absence of empathy in the man. ...
This isn’t America First - it’s Trump First. ...

If I lived in the US I would be very concerned by reading his tweet. He's been shown 'projected death' numbers, in a way that he can understand. And he is now very worried about his ability to be re-elected.
Those numbers must be very high.
The Washington Post - Inside Trump’s risky push to reopen the country amid the coronavirus crisis
today
When Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) called President Trump last Sunday, he delivered a blunt message: If you reopen the nation’s economy too early against the advice of public-health experts, you will own the deaths from the novel coronavirus that follow.
Trump’s stalwart ally also warned that the president wouldn’t be the only one held responsible.
Graham said the Republican Party itself risks being defined ahead of this fall’s elections as prioritizing commerce and the stock market over the health and safety of the American people, according to three White House officials and a GOP lawmaker ...
Trump listened to Graham but made no promises, the officials said.
Trump argued to the senator, as he later would in public, that Americans must get back to work and businesses need to reopen as quickly as possible. ...

Genius.
Apart from the fact that the virus is everywhere in the US already, this'll motivate many in large metro centres with high infection rates to get the hell out of their cities immediately, thus helping the virus to "go forth and multiply" amongst the entire US population even faster than if he'd done nothing at all.
As the guy from the Hunt for the Red October said "You arrogant ass, you killed us"
