I tried to find where he said that on March 18, I couldn't, so I concluded then that someone made that up. But it's quite possible he did say it.

I stand corrected, and have edited my last post.  😕

But it sounds like genuine Trumpspeak.

Reuters Fact Check

False: there is no evidence that shows that Trump said “people are dying who have never died before”, either in relation to the coronavirus outbreak or earlier.

The late writer Ernest Hemingway is documented as having used the phrase.

Damn. I can just imagine him saying it 😜

There are numerous good quality studies showing without a doubt that sleep deprivation leads to increased viral susceptibility. Really worries me seeing pictures of obviously tired health care workers like the kiwi paramedic in USA earlier for example.

I believe the video I referred to was posted in this topic. My comment related to that video. I could not find it to quote. Perhaps I'm mistaken. Apologies if that is the case.

If anyone around here knows a cartoonist .

I'm pretty much stick figures

I have in my isolation cabin fever had this inspiration.

With Trump having lived so long rent free in our collective heads ( On both sides of the debate ).

A cartoon idea would be Trump getting kicked out of his rent free digs, by CV19.

Thanks for inviting me in says CV19 as its executing a swift kick

Maybe a warning , I'll look you up come election time if you are still in town ya bum.

Maybe its be done already.

Hey ho....

Sadly, "America first" in terms of death is NOW. Without "him" it could be much worse (... but with him even more for sure).

If you need inspiration, check out XKCD

I'm guessing you are like most of New Zealand, and killing a lot of time (bad choice of words). Youtube has no shortage of videos teaching drawing.

If you're looking for something more structured, google "online class introduction drawing"

We can always use more cartoonists.

Many cartoonists pay for ideas, suggestions and scenarios. Start by looking up cartoon authors from their signatures.

New York Times: A Times examination reveals the extent of President Trump’s slow response as the virus spread.

Throughout January, as President Trump repeatedly played down the seriousness of the virus and focused on other issues, an array of figures inside his government — including top White House advisers and experts deep in the cabinet departments and intelligence agencies — identified the threat, sounded alarms and made clear the need for aggressive action.

Dozens of interviews and a review of emails and other records by The New York Times revealed many previously unreported details of the roots and extent of his halting response:

The National Security Council office responsible for tracking pandemics received intelligence reports in early January predicting the spread of the virus, and within weeks raised options like keeping Americans home from work and shutting down large cities.

Despite Mr. Trump’s denial, he was told at the time about a Jan. 29 memo produced by his trade adviser, Peter Navarro, laying out in striking detail the potential risks of a coronavirus pandemic.

The health and human services secretary directly warned Mr. Trump of the possibility of a pandemic during a call on Jan. 30, the second warning he delivered to the president about the virus. The president said he was being alarmist.

The health secretary publicly announced in February that the government was establishing a “surveillance” system in five American cities to measure the spread of the virus. It was delayed for weeks, leaving administration officials with almost no insight into how rapidly the virus was spreading.

You must be talking to a different group of cartoonists than me. I've heard the opposite:

random stranger: "I've got a great idea for a cartoon (explains idea)"

artist, being polite: "that does sounds interesting"

random stranger: "could you draw it?"

artist: "sure. a quick sketch with a single character is $20, plus $10 for each additional character."

random stranger: "no, i meant for free."

artist: "I wish I could but I've got bills to pay, and I get a lot of requests for free work."

random stranger: "it'll just take a minute."

The POTUS explains with great clarity his deep understanding of the problem with C-19:

This is a very brilliant enemy.  You know, it’s a brilliant enemy.  They develop drugs like the antibiotics.  You see it.  Antibiotics used to solve every problem.  Now one of the biggest problems the world has is the germ has gotten so brilliant that the antibiotic can’t keep up with it.  And they’re constantly trying to come up with a new — people go to a hospital and they catch — they go for a heart operation — that’s no problem, but they end up dying from — from problems.  You know the problems I’m talking about.  There’s a whole genius to it.

We’re fighting — not only is it hidden, but it’s very smart.  Okay?  It’s invisible and it’s hidden, but it’s — it’s very smart.  And you see that in a case like a Denver.

The best cartoon I ever thought of and couldn't draw was a couple in bed hanging off the edge of a destroyed building after the San Francisco earthquake, with the man saying to the woman: 'Did the earth move for you, too?'

Later I discovered a Playboy cartoon with two elephants and the same joke. It works either way.
