Batman: Could it be that the white supremacists are destroying things to make the protestors look bad?

Good point. I have seen something to that effect. Demonstration starts out peaceful, then white extremists move in and start looting and setting fires in a calculated move to create as much disruption as possible in order to undermine the protest and the protesters. I don't know if this is true, I have just seen it mentioned in passing on one of the news media. It wouldn't surprise me if it was true. It is very much the kind of tactic to be expected from today's right-wingers.

Yep.  I understand that for this reason black protesters in Minneapolis are deeply suspicious of white "supporters".

Declaring "antifa" a terrorist organisation is of course a desirable goal, makes summary execution and brutality as well as "detention" without charges or representation legal.  (But AFAIK Trump cannot declare a domestic organisation "terrorist" - his friends in the KKK enjoy constitutional protection)
He was threatening to do this with "MS13".  The video below is Trump in action a few years ago (2017) - advising officers to  "please don't be too nice".  Possibly more appalling than Trump's endorsement of the use of violence as extrajudicial punishment is the cheers from enforcement officers.  Of course if you criticise this blatantly fascist action, then you're "some kind of radical left-wing extremist - supporter of drug cartels etc".  It's a sick country - led by a sick monster:

ANGELA MERKEL TO SOCIAL-DISTANCE HERSELF FROM TRUMP BY FOUR THOUSAND MILES.

BERLIN (The Borowitz Report)—In an effort to practice social distancing, the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, confirmed that she will stay four thousand miles away from Donald Trump.

She told reporters that her decision to decline Trump’s invitation to a possible meeting of the G-7 in Washington was based entirely on science.

“Epidemiologists have recommended that, in order to be safe, one should social-distance by six feet,” she said. “It stands to reason I will safest if I social-distance by twenty-one million feet.”

Merkel said that she was taking the extremely cautious social-distancing measures regarding Trump because
“This man is always shouting and his mouth is a firehose of droplets.”

Asked whether she would reconsider a White House visit if Trump agreed to wear a mask, she said, “Donald Trump with a mask is clearly a big improvement over Donald Trump without a mask, but neither option is as attractive as a White House visit without Donald Trump.”

"Perhaps I'll come for Mr.Biden's innauguration. That will be some party, I reckon."

Trump crowned? No faux King way!

Surprise, surprise. Just reinforcing the viewpoint (well, mine anyway) that he's nothing more than a cowardly bully.

Background to that.  "Seancordicon" is a QAnon conspiracy theorist (aka - a freaking nutcase) who'd breached twitter's T&C and been banned, opened a new account and posted, then the POTUS retweeted something he liked from this moron, that drew the attention of Twitter mods, so they closed his account again.

The big question is what the hell is going on - why the President of the most powerful nation in the world supports wildly delusional conspiracy theories?

The answer is very clear - the POTUS isn't sane.

The Washington Post - The 5-Minute Fix: This moment is not normal

today

Over the past few days, President Trump has made one thing clear: He wants to crack down on the protests that have, in many cities, turned violent after dark. ...

So why such a focus on getting tough?  ...  [headings only]

  • Trump sees these protests as a threat to him and wants to tamp down on them.
  • He can stoke a culture war about something other than coronavirus.
  • He won in 2016 with get-tough-on-crime policies.
  • Trump may also just reflexively be reacting to protests with a message and animus he doesn’t like. ...

If he had any credible opposition his ratings would be in negative territory now and it would be a forgone conclusion that he would be gone in November along with all the corrupt sycophants in his administration.

But the opposition is not credible. It's about as inept as it's possible to imagine.

And, to compound the problem, a large number of Americans appear to think the same way he does.
