SJB:

If he had any credible opposition his ratings would be in negative territory now and it would be a forgone conclusion that he would be gone in November along with all the corrupt sycophants in his administration.

But the opposition is not credible. It's about as inept as it's possible to imagine.

And, to compound the problem, a large number of Americans appear to think the same way he does.

The vast majority of voters have a vote blue/vote red mentality, no matter who
To win you need a base, some swing voters and a candidate that generates excitement so voters chose to take the day off work, organize their friends, to stand in a line for hours just to vote, a vote that doesn't really count, because Electoral College

There isn't any opposition. There isn't 2 parties, only 1 party. The corporate centrist elitist neoliberal Warmonger establishment party

The Q thing has seemed strange to me from the beginning. Just found this. NBC News took a close look in 2018:

NBCNews: NBC News has found that the theory can be traced back to three people who sparked some of the first conversation about Qanon and, in doing so, attracted followers who they then asked to help fund Qanon “research.”

Other parties have seen more since then. One of the tubers even logged into the Q account and posted an 'update' during a live stream.. facepalm.

That's simply not correct.

Biden fumbles - and he's an "establishment" candidate - but he's not a blatant liar suffering narcissistic personality disorder with a history including sleeping with a porn star following the birth of child of his third marriage, a hate-filled misogynist, racist, serial bankrupt, impeached in office, surrounded and enabled by fascists like Miller, destroyers of constitutional norms like McConnell, a corrupt lawyer like Barr, supported by KKK and alt-right scum.  His inept handling of a disaster like the covid pandemic, constant blame shifting and lies, nepotism and plundering.

There is NO comparison.

No - Biden is far from what I'd see as an ideal candidate - but he's incomparably better than re-electing the stupid orange buffoon.

No-one expects Biden to push through any radical social reforms or other earth-shaking policies. What most people are hoping for is that he will bring back a sense of decency and decorum to the presidency, a return to 'normal' and reassurance that the past four years were just a horrible aberration.

Trump got a peaceful manifestation in Washington D.C. to be broken with tear gas and rubber bullets so he could walk to a church and take photos while holding a bible, pandering to his stupid followers. The bishop wasn't impressed:

I don't think anyone needs to go into that level of explanation. Biden is infinitely better than Trump because (1) he doesn't appear to be functionally illiterate (as has long been revealed by even Trump's administration insiders); (2) he is at least a person of apparently average intelligence (has Trump ever been able to personally articulate any point of substance apart from generally utterly simple lines like "We are winning!" and then immediately repeat them?); and (3) he displays at least some grasp of a normal adult's morals and understanding of the weighty responsibilities of the Presidency.

Frankly, someone's cat will make for a better President than Trump, simply by virtue of it being prepared to just say nothing and do nothing but sleep for many hours a day, instead of inflaming tensions or pandering to racists during its every waking moment.

To a certain extent you can say the same for most countries - the UK, Australia, New Zealand. You don't vote for Jacinda Ardern or Todd Muller, you vote for Labour or National, and the PM is whoever that party happens to select to be their leader, which could change at any time for inscrutable party reasons you have no visibility of. For all you know, Judith might let Todd woo NZ into electing a National government only to stab him in the back on election day so that come Monday, she's PM.

Not comparable.  The US Senate is protected with an "irrevocable" clause in Article 5 of the constitution giving equal suffrage for every state.  They elect two senators each into a 100 seat upper house, so that does not give equal representation for the people - a citizen in Wyoming has 67 times the voting power of a citizen in California.
Once upon a time, the system kind of worked.  Kind of like the House of Lords in UK or upper house in Aus (or monarch in NZ - signing off legislation).  It fell to pieces sharply during Obama's first term.  Democrats had a narrow senate majority, republicans filibustered / delayed passing legislation in the first two years of his term, Obama lost the senate majority in the first mid-terms (probably in part because republicans claimed he wasn't getting anything done, but also Trump & Co's endorsement of the crazy idea that Obama was an illegally appointed Muslim infiltrator born in Africa, strong condemnation by the "Tea Party" factions about Obama's response to the GFC) , to pass legislation into law from there on, he needed to get support in the upper house, to get the support he had to water down needed reforms - or throw in some gifts for republicans - or he'd have never got anything done at all except by executive order.
Now it's far worse, there's a rogue president with an administration that break laws when they like - and no will by the senate to do anything about it. So if Trump loses - but Republicans hold the senate majority, Biden's first two years are going to be doomed.

NPR: Trump Says He'll Deploy Military To States If They Don't Stop Violent Protests

So far the only deaths I'm aware of are protestors. Plus one officer assigned to protect an FBI building some distance from any protest gunned down by an unknown assailant from SUV, and one protestor killed by an unknown assailant from an SUV.

Voters already rejected everything that Biden and his corporate donors stand for, already, in 2016

8 years of Obama-Biden neoliberal lies and anti-American worker policies, delivered us Trump
Trump is just a symptom

A return to normal/status-quo/"nothing will fundamentally change" is pathetic

Probably this election will turn into a straight up-and-down issue over Trump pandemic handling

Voters didn't reject anything. Hillary just lost the electoral shuffle. Saying Trump is a result of Obama is absurd. Trump is at least partly a result of the systematic, orchestrated undermining of Obama by a cabal of anti-democratic right wing conspirators who have been nibbling away at American democracy since at least the John Birch Society in the 1960s.

A return to normal would be a welcome relief after the Trump years. Normal in this context just means a president who does not behave like a spoilt toddler.

Probably this election will turn into a straight up-and-down verdict on the wisdom of electing a deranged orangutan as president.

My stepbrother and I were talking about this last night. His view (and I agree) is that while Joe Biden isn't the best candidate in the world, at least - compared to Trump - he would make the American government "a lot more stable", although he would have a massive job on his hands cleaning up all the crap and destruction that Trump has created in the last 3-odd years in power.

To some extent it may depend on how far Biden will go in the direction of New Deal style policies with Sanders and supporters providing momentum for that within the democratic party.
