Rikkitic:

Just heard a commentator suggest that the actual numbers at the rally are so much lower than the Trump campaign predictions because anti-Trump people were messing with him by ordering masses of tickets! I hope that is true.

Sounds like another Trump excuse for people staying away in droves: "It would been the biggest ever, the BIGGEST ever, the BIGGEST EVER, but those evil Democrats messed it aaaaallllll up".

Fox News Poll: Biden widens lead over Trump

By adding a third candidate, we can find out who people would really prefer in the US if there was a choice:

Trump: 18%

Biden: 21%

Sack of potatoes: 61%

Rikkitic: MSNBC reporting numerous empty seats at Trump's rally and cancellation of a second event he was going to speak at.

Fox News is reporting only 23% of voters think campaign rallies are a good idea under current Covid conditions in USA:

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/fox-news-poll-voters-say-yes-to-face-masks-no-to-rallies

It's a small poll. It's an indication people the USA are waking up to the reality and severity of Covid risks despite the concerning performance of the current administration.

I posted this here #2509199

On the controversial topic of mask wearing or not:

Social Darwinism = If you die I don't care, I just want my beer & burger (Dr Murtaza Akhter - ER Doctor Phoenix Arizona)

After reading this article concerning the Trump rally in Tulsa, I am revising it to read:

Social Darwinism = If you die I don't care, I just want Donald to Make America Great Again

Well that will certainly happen when all the selfish idiots are dead, unfortunately they will take the innocent with them, the ones that actually do Make America Great.

Quotes from article:- (talk about a melting pot of super spreaders)

Few rallygoers were wearing masks as they entered the venue to take seats that were right next to one another. The crowd standing near the stage was already tightly packed as people without face coverings stood face-to-face talking to one another as loud music played in the background.

One man standing near the front of the rally stage as crowds filed into the arena on Saturday afternoon wore a white diaper over his shorts with a sign attached to the rear that read: "I Covid my ass to stop the spread."

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

It's OK, Trump's got it covered, by not testing any more no-one will test positive after the rally. Such a stable genius idea!

The New York Times - Trump Rally Fizzles as Attendance Falls Short of Campaign’s Expectations

today

President Trump’s attempt to revive his re-election bid sputtered badly as he traveled to Tulsa for his first mass rally in months but found a small crowd and delivered a disjointed speech. ...

While the president’s campaign had claimed that more than a million people had sought tickets for the rally, the 19,000-seat BOK Center was at least one-third empty during the rally. A second, outdoor venue was so sparsely attended that he and Vice President Mike Pence both canceled appearances there. ...

Mr. Trump was furious about the unused outdoor stage and the comparatively thin crowd in the stadium, according to two people familiar with his reaction. News broadcasts carried video of the partially empty stadium, and even the Drudge Report, a reliably conservative website, carried an all-caps headline that said “MAGA LESS MEGA” with a picture of rows and rows of empty blue seats. ...

A supporter sits alone in the top sections of the BOK Center

I think Trump has believed in his own popularity just a little too much.

I've been off the grid for most of the day, just catching up - but I did hear he cancelled the overflow speaking event he was going to do, due to low numbers who attended his rally.

I"m about halfway through Omarosa's book Unhinged and she's slowly cottoning on to the fact that he's quite racist.

An interesting perspective on the Republican Party's slow southern strategy:

How the American South Drives the Low-Wage Economy: Just as in the 1850s (with the Dred Scott decision and the Fugitive Slave Act), the Southern labor system (with low pay and no unions) is wending its way north.

In fact, now more than then, the South's efforts to spread its values across America are advancing, as Northern Republicans adopt their Southern counterparts' antipathy to unions and support for voter suppression, and as workers' earnings in the North fall toward Southern levels.

Trump appears to be selling the same old nonsense. Four more years of it is starting to look unlikely.

I hope that is true. It would be pretty cool if it is. Trump isn't the only one who can manipulated the media.

I think people were hoping to book out all the tickets and not go. However they had no limit to the number of tickets booked and let people come in on a first come, first served basis. It did let Trump crow before the event about having huge numbers of people pre-book for tickets. It also gave contact details for people for targeted advertising in the next few months. Although I am sure Ben Dover et al. booked lots of tickets.
