I read that and found it very superficial, not an article where the writer had done any proper or balanced research.

That piece is clearly written by someone with an agenda. In this case a disappointed progressive, but it is not an objective analysis. I am also a disappointed progressive but what is done is done and I don't see what is to be gained by dancing on her grave. She has moved on and so should everyone else.

Ardern's government has achieved things any progressive person would consider worthwhile and even proud of. There's a couple of paragraphs in the article naming several achievements of Ardern's Labour government. There are many achievement left out. I expect the author is saving those for part three.

Brian Easton is a reasonably dry academic economist. I think his take here is an accurate assessment:

A general theme of "redisorganisation" nails the essential summary of major government initiatives.

Various articles ask if National would have done better. No one knows. It all depends if our ills are all Labour based to not...

No-one was allowed to say anything negative about her when she was in charge, can't comment on now she's gone. Must be nice to consider someone so perfect they are above criticism.

'Critical discussion' doesn't always have to be negative discussion.

But as soon as you say 'no negative discussion', you're not critically analysing anything. You're just writing a hagiography.

Some people seem to think that Ardern should not be held to an objective standard when it comes to effective governance or policy delivery and I would bet Bob Clarkson's left one that they still have plenty to say about Key et al.

Jacinda bashing seems to have become a meme. She is gone. It is tiresome.

It's human nature.  People like to grizzle about things they feel aggrieved over.  Look at the Trump thread.

Trump is a criminal out to destroy democracy. I don't think the two can be compared.
