The Washington Post - It’s already too late for Trump
today
By the time President Trump released a lengthy recorded speech Wednesday delineating his various false and debunked claims about fraud in the presidential election, it was already too late.
He insisted it wasn’t, of course.
“There is still plenty of time to certify the correct winner of the election,” he argued, “and that’s what we’re fighting to do.”
But there wasn’t still plenty of time. That’s not just in the sense that, over the past month, he’s been unable to provide any evidence to bolster his claims of fraud. ...
As he spoke, five of the six states that Trump has repeatedly focused on with his unfounded claims of fraud - Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin - had not only certified their results but also transmitted formal certificates of ascertainment to the National Archives with the seal of the state’s governor.
And that, by itself, essentially closes the door.
🎺 YEA 🎉 🎊 🥳
Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.
It's not just Trump but a raft of enablers who seem to be very happy to see Democracy Die in the Open.
They don't need fancy subterfuge and leaving Democracy Dying in the Dark.
Michael Flynn Wants Trump To Declare Martial Law And Redo The Election

Flynn, who had been awaiting sentencing for lying to the FBI about his Russian contacts before Trump’s pardon, on Tuesday retweeted a news release from a right-wing Ohio group called We The People Convention asking the president to declare martial law so troops can supervise a do-over of the 2020 election.
Flynn tagged many conservative celebs in his post and added: “Freedom never kneels except for God.”

Republican party future seems to be charted, and given USA is 'first past the post' change within will be slow if at all.
One can see even if Trump tires, the next candidate runoff will be full of people trying to be more Trump than Trump.

Out of interest, is someone with knowledge of such a thing, able to explain the big spikes in the graphics he was holding up? I would have thought it fairly unusual to be counting votes at those times of the day, I don't dispute the findings, I was just curious.
I had just assumed they worked all through the night and a batch of postal votes (that are supposed to favour Biden) would have been counted. Could be wrong
Cyril
Counting in-person votes starts when polls close, reasonably steady as here, and with different polling stations reporting partial counts at different times.
The "spikes" are mail-in ballots being reported. I believe in some (most?) states these envelopes were opened before polls close. As they're opened then the signatures are verified by comparing with electronic records on the voter registration database, but they're not counted. They're stuck in a pile, and fed into a machine for counting - very fast (think bank-note counting fast) - so that's the "spikes". So they recount, in case the machine made mistakes. It didn't. So they invent all other reasons why the election was "stolen" - they can't match the envelopes to the ballots any more - so they pick on that as "evidence of fraud". It's many levels of crazy.
Republicans tend to vote early and in person. They're keen, and they believe Covid is fake news. Exit polls confirm the obvious, More democrat voters tend to vote by mail in, out of state votes tend to favour Democrats. It's a big difference - IIRC in Pennsylvania about 80% of mail in votes were Democrat votes. That's why the charts had initial leads for the GOP gradually whittling away.
Then Trump's BS claims about Michigan / Detroit and perhaps Wisconsin. He campaigned strongly in 2016 to discourage the black vote by claiming the Dems had cheated them, they hadn't selected Bernie, so don't vote - and many bought it - the black voter turnout was terrible. Big problem because only 10-15% of blacks vote for the GOP, and Trump has been attacking BLM, doing nothing for poverty in the cities, bitterly attacking loved black sports stars (ie for "taking the knee") and locking children up in cages. This time they voted in record numbers.
Trump is delusional. There's no significant fraud - he lost. He lost the popular vote, he lost the presidency. There's no doubt. And he deserved to lose. The only remarkable thing is that everybody knew - or should have known after 4 years of him - that this is how he'd behave, and yet ~70 million voters were okay with that.
The Washington Post - The most petulant 46 minutes in American history
today
It was four weeks distilled to less than an hour. ...
It was, almost literally, a distillation of the past four weeks of rants, allegations and accusations, including countless examples of claims which have already been soundly debunked. ...
The essential question of the moment is how far Trump wants to go. ...
Was the speech a lengthy vent, an airing of grievances without peer in American history?
Or was it a sign Trump will continue to want to push the understood boundaries of what our electoral system allows?

This week Joe diGenova, a Trump campaign lawyer, told a radio show that the federal election official who was fired for disputing Trump's claims of fraud "should be drawn and quartered. Taken out at dawn and shot."
DiGenova later said he was joking. The fired official, Christopher Krebs, wrote in an Op-Ed in the Washington Post: "My lawyers will do the talking, they'll do it in court. ... They're going to be busy."
So some nobody who's a mate of Trump's says that someone who called the election not in Trump's favour should be shot.
Then he turns around and says he was joking.
Christ, that was funny. So funny I forgot to laugh 🙄 seriously mate, bugger off and get a life. Your hero lost, get over it, do him a favour and tell him to stop acting like a crybaby.
Mind you, I just knew if Trump lost, this is exactly what he would do.
Imagine if he'd won? "Oh, that was a great election. The most wonderful and fairest the entire world ever has and ever will see. All because I won."

Yep, as mentioned pages ago - only money AFTER a certain threshold would be used for legal costs. Everything under would be used for the campaign and personal expenses.
The grift is running high because those are the last few months to make money off idiots.

The Washington Post - Wisconsin Supreme Court declines to hear Trump campaign challenge to election results
breaking
The Wisconsin Supreme Court on Thursday declined to take up a challenge to the presidential election filed by President Trump’s campaign, finding that under state law, it should have sought a hearing first in a lower-level court. ...
The refusal of the state’s highest court to take up Trump’s petition is a new blow to Trump’s foundering efforts to overturn the election - and a particularly stinging rebuke, given that conservatives hold a 4-to-3 majority on the elected panel.
... and another one bites the dust ... 🙃
