quickymart:  ... Very minimal coverage of what Fox actually did, I read it as more of a back slapping didn't-we-do-well-out-of-it type story.

To quote from this sanitized Fox announcement:  "This settlement reflects FOX’s continued commitment to the highest journalistic standards."

Let's just hope that they never lower their standards. 🧐🧐🧐

kingdragonfly: Some of Congresswoman Lauren Boebert’s videos are so unbelievably over the top, they seem like sketches from “Saturday Night Live.”

Here's Rishi Sunak trying to join that club..

The Washington Post - Complaints about Justice Thomas’s disclosures sent to judicial committee

18 April 2023

Allegations from congressional Democrats that Justice Clarence Thomas probably violated federal ethics laws in his dealings with a Republican donor have been sent to a committee of federal judges responsible for “addressing allegations of errors or omissions in the filing of financial disclosure reports,” a top judicial official said Tuesday.

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) and Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) had requested that the Judicial Conference of the United States investigate Thomas’s failure to disclose travel and real estate deals with his longtime friend and benefactor, Dallas business executive Harlan Crow.

Whitehouse and Johnson said the conference should refer the matter to Attorney General Merrick Garland.

Tiny steps  🧐

I remember his father well. He was the last great hope of liberal America. The actions of the son make his assassination a double tragedy.

Samoa may remember Robert Kennedy Jr.

""
In the midst of a vaccination crisis, anti-vaxxers visit Samoa
In June, just months before the outbreak, two well-known and well-established anti-vaccine advocates, Robert Kennedy Jr. and Taylor Winterstein, the wife of an Australian rugby player, met in Samoa.

While it's not known what the two discussed, Winterstein, who posted an Instagram photo of herself with Kennedy at the time, has been spreading anti-vaccine conspiracy theories related to Samoa throughout the outbreak.

The Washington Post - The 5-Minute Fix: A bad week for election lies

today

Election-fraud falsehoods are having a reckoning this week. Fox News has to pay a massive amount of money for pushing conspiracy theories on air. And now so does another major conservative voice.

Few people other than Donald Trump championed false election-fraud claims as much as Mike Lindell. He’s the CEO of MyPillow. He helped finance and publicize fraud claims, and met with Trump about them.

“I’m not wrong,” he told CNN last year. “I’ve checked it out. I’ve spent millions.” ...

Now he has to pay for it.

Lindell has been ordered to make good on his bet of paying $5 million to anyone who could prove him wrong on one of his particularly outlandish claims about China meddling in the election.

A computer expert from Nevada did just that: He showed clear evidence that Lindell had no evidence of election fraud.

A group of arbitrators (a neutral panel that both sides present their case to, much like a court) agreed that Lindell needs to pay up, The Washington Post reports in an exclusive.  [link]

DailyDot: The man destroying Busch Light in a viral TikTok was wanted on charges of exposing himself to a teen

A man destroyed hundreds of cans of Busch Light in a Kansas Walmart and was caught on TikTok amid controversy surrounding the beer’s parent company Anheuser-Busch.

However, it’s unclear if the destruction of property relates to current right-wing concerns over Bud Light’s partnership with a trans influencer.

I feel it safe to say this guy's a typical American CEO.

Vice: CEO Celebrates Worker Who Sold Family Dog After He Demanded They Return to Office

...In a virtual town hall last week, the CEO of a Utah-based digital marketing and technology company, who is forcing employees to return to the office, celebrated the sacrifice of a worker who had to sell the family dog as a result of his decisions. He also questioned the motives of those who disagreed, accusing some of quiet quitting, and waxed skeptical on the compatibility of working full time with serving as a primary caregiver to children.
...
The decision by Clearlink CEO James Clarke to mandate in-office work had come as a surprise to many workers, seeing as Clarke himself had said over email as recently as late October that he had “no plans” to mandate in-office work and some Clearlink employees had been hired with the understanding that the company was “remote-first.”
...
[He asked] the company to increase productivity to “30 to 50 times our normal production” as a result of recent advances in artificial intelligence while also making reference to the “Judeo-Christian ethic” and noting, for unclear reasons, that he went to Oxford and Harvard.
...
He leveled accusations at his own employees [who] brought up “nonsense” questions and a lack of general “respect”; referred to some of his own employees as “critics or pundits” with no real answers; and proclaimed that diversity, equity, and inclusion “can only exist where you can respect and even revere the person who directly opposes your view or those of your chosen community.”

Clarke reportedly hosted a series of fundraisers for Republican Florida governor Ron DeSantis in Utah last summer alongside other high-profile business leaders.
