I imagine now that after the appalling incident yesterday, Joe's inauguration will have security to the hilt...they'll be keen to not let this nonsense happen again.

I seem to remember I had heard he was going to have a 'virtual' inauguration because of Covid-19.

Regardless of his inciting, heads of the capitol police need to roll they might as well just invited them in.

Unbelievably there is no way to expel someone from the Republican Party. What idiot political party doesn't include that option in their constitution.

From: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021_storming_of_the_United_States_Capitol#Scrutiny_of_Capitol_security_response

Footage emerged on social media of police allowing rioters through barricades into the Capitol, and one officer was filmed taking a selfie with a rioter inside the building.Representative Jim Cooper (D-TN) was concerned that Capitol police could have been complicit in the breach, saying "At worst, [Capitol police] let this protest proceed unlike any other". Multiple European security officials, including two intelligence officials from NATO member countries, in interviews with Business Insider suggested the breach may have been abetted by "tacit support" of the attackers among members of Capitol Police and other federal agencies assisting with Capitol complex security.

The Washington Post - Trump hasn’t gone this long without tweeting since 2019

today

SAN FRANCISCO - President Trump hasn’t tweeted since 6:01 p.m. ET on Wednesday - his longest break from airing his thoughts, feelings and calls to action on the site since November 2019.

Twelve hours of that silence was because of a first-ever suspension of his account by Twitter that occurred after the president violated its rules as rioters broke into the Capitol.

But the account was returned to his control in the morning  ...  Since then, silence.

It’s unusual. The president, who has more than 88 million followers, has made Twitter his main means of communication to speak directly to his supporters and the country at large, and frequently.

In the past 30 days, he tweeted an average of 18 times each day, according to Social Blade. ...

I think you'll find that he personally did not decide to stop tweeting, nor do I think he personally recorded that self-serving video after the riots. I read it was a whole raft of advisers basically told him to do it - I doubt he would ever have the guts to do it off his own volition.

Same thing with Twitter - he's probably got advisers telling him to shut the hell up, as if he opens his stupid mouth again, he's just going to make things worse. Hell, maybe they even took his cellphone away (can they do this?).

There are reports that a capitol police officer has now died from injuries received during the riot. I have heard that of the other deaths, one was someone who fell off a scaffold, one was a crush injury in the crowd and another managed to taze themselves and triggered a cardiac arrest. That brings the death toll to 5 for the riot.

JaseNZ:  This is a video Trump has just posted.

Trump signed off with: "To all of my wonderful supporters, I know you are disappointed but I also want you to know our incredible journey is only just beginning."

What the hell does that mean?

What's he on?

He seems much calmer than yesterday.

Like Ted Cruz, Trump is "a serpent covered with Vaseline".

Paul1977:.......

I just think it's counterproductive to paint all Trump supporters with the same brush

Like I said it doesn't excuse it in any way.

As freitasm said:

CNN - US Capitol Police chief to resign after Wednesday's riots

They were very well prepared for Coloured rioters but not for white Caucasian rioters.

And just to reinforce my above:

CNN - Rioters breached US Capitol security on Wednesday. This was the police response when it was Black protesters on DC streets last year

It is just so telling how Fcuked up America is.
