6FIEND:

Jacinda Ardern:

I have reprimanded the Minister for making that call.  She shouldn't have.

Okay. I can't keep up with everything. I don't have the physical or mental energy for it anymore. But I continue to believe in progressive ideals and will try to defend them as best I can. As far as the Greens questions go, you are right that I don't see that as a misstep. Shaw explained his reasons and I thought they were admirable ones. If National uses the questions in the spirit in which they were offered, this could represent a positive step in a good direction. I hate adversarial politics, just as I hate the adversarial justice system. It is a stupid way to do things. There are good ideas on the right and there are good ideas on the left. There are good and poor politicians on both sides. Governments do need to be held to account, but a goal-scoring mentality does not contribute to anyone's well-being. The sooner we move away from it, the better.

Another politician is a hypocrite. What else is new?

What's new was Jacinda's stand against old school political hypocrisy, lack of transparency etc. Despite her aspirations for a "absolutely transparent" government we're seeing the same old thing. Disappointing if you were a labour supporters I would think.

According to breaking news on NZH Jacinda tells media she "hates" being compared to Trump, but wasn't it Trump that promised to drain the swamp, and now it's worse than ever?

Wondering what rating you'd give them on a scale of 1-10 if 10 is completely and 0 is none as it relates to a) Honesty, and b) transparency?

I would rate them about the same as the last government. So what?

Disappointing if you support any government. One keeps hoping for improvement. I don't think you will get it by dumping this one.

Come on? Really!?

Even if that's true, and I have doubts about that, campaigning on GREATER honesty and transparency, and then failing to deliver it should leave you hopping mad surely?

On an entirely different matter, I found this item on RNZ interesting. The government has been pilloried for its unrealistic and/or scaled back housing promises. Accord to this, they may not be all that unrealistic after all.

If this is the result of 'trying' then pity help us if they hadn't promised it. English didn't campaign on it so there was less of an obligation to be different. That's what annoys me, not the lack of honesty, but the broken promises.

Well, apparently only National doing what you don't want gets your blood boiling. Coalition can do whatever it likes and you will support them and make excuses for them.

Heh, what?

1000 houses!? (They have said they make up 1/3rd of the entire industry so at best 30K) They promised 100,000 houses. They have now broken that and said 60K, which INCLUDES houses everyone else is building that don't work for Labour (Ie the developer who voted National who isn building for his OWN profit for his company next door to us).

Tyford already said they were going to need to scale back again. Some sources indicate potentially number ends up being 35K.

And you were doing so well at having a polite discussion.

No, I see just fine. 1000 houses, they are capable of a third of the market, so max 3K a year, over 10 years.

It's you who see's what you want to see.

Though I expect no matter how few houses they build, nothing would deter your support.
