You continually underestimate the executive power of a POTUS with a majority in both houses and a stacked SCOTUS.

It's not going to go away for at least two years (unless impeached), and even then what's left is still far to the moral conservative right than any GOP government in 50 years.

Lets just see what happens. Either all of his outlandish policies will be full steam ahead on Jan 21 or they wont be. Hillary in jail, Moslems deported en masse, physical wall being built, fixing the infrastructure to be the best in the world at huge debt, getting stuck into China and tarrifing anybody and everybody. Pulling out of military support or invoicing them, and so on. He used psychology to won, he cannot use that to run a country. But arent you underestimating the role the party has in running the country? Or do you feel that Trump will do what he wants, irregardless of them? if that was the case, your concerns are well founded and the US will go broke and be left friendless and isloated. But should he go down that track he will be ousted.

Im not underestimating anything. I am however not over estimating him transferring his policies as stated into law and practice. Under estimating him or over estimating him, thats the $64000 question. But, these are ALL opinions.

What I do know, because it has been documented in interviews, is that he is a vicious, vindictive bully who goes out of his way to 'get even'. This is the next President of the United States, ladies and gentlemen. Any uncertainty, doubt or dread stems from that fact alone, not from anyone discussing it. Henny Penny jumped to an unreasonable conclusion on the basis of very flimsy evidence that the sky was falling, or something equivalent. That is one extreme. The other is insisting that the approaching asteroid won't actually hit us, or isn't even really there at all. Neither point of view is particularly helpful.

Its about seperating what he says in an election to what he does post election, and what he can do, and assuming he has unbridled power to overrule his party. Your analogy is a bit off the mark. On the right track more or less though but a bit extreme. So we should not discuss the extremes that could happen?

Right. People were hoping/expecting the GOP would rein Trump in, but they're not going to do that if he's doing something they actually agree with. In the past it's been Obama limiting the excesses of the GOP in Congress (or, from the GOP's point of view, the GOP limiting Obama's excesses), so the final position is somewhere between their extremes. Now the brakes are off. Things will swing rapidly to whichever is the least right wing of Trump and the GOP, and then a little bit further.

I don't know if Clinton would have been significantly better. Some people think she is a big time crook. The choice was clearly between bad and worse. Which one the US Citizens picked possibly defines what they thought was what. Either way, the facts are this: we DONT KNOW what Trump is going to really be like, we can only speculate. And I would NOT use CNN as a reliable source of media either. Its very bias towards the democrats, hence why its called the "Clinton News Network". So the reports you are going to get are going to be anti-trump. Its like watching Fox News, being all Pro Trump and Anti Clinton.

He will backtrack on some of his campaign promises, surely, they were unrealistic. It sounds like when it comes to trade deals, he prefers seperate negotiated trade deals with each nation, rather than a complex trade deal wrapped up like NAFTA/TPP etc.

This trade war with China might not be as much as 45% tarriffs. It might be something more realistic like 15%. His wall will probably be an extended monitored fence, with concrete in "some areas". And to be fair, we don't have the same problems the United states has in regards to illegal immigrants, nor does Australia the UK and Canada, so we look at these political issues differently and laugh about this wall. NZ/AU/UK are all on islands, and Canada is so far north and bordered by the USA that they don't really have big illegal problems.

Look at what is real. Do the GOP want to do all this random cr@p like spend 20 billion on a concrete barrier? Probably not. But it probably is in the GOP's interest to spend some money on boarder security.

It even sounds like these wars in the middle east have been too costly for the United States, and Trump seems to want to avoid them mainly for this very reason.

I think they will be pushing their policies, and if Trump fights them too much they will remove him. This might not happen, Trump probably will get some strong say in what policies get selected. I think he believes he can strip back the fat that has built up in the US government. There will be many obstacles for him to overcome to do this, even though he has the GOP in the house and senate, restructures take a long time.

Trump is a reasonably intelligent person, when he said those "politically incorrect" comments on the campaign trail, he knew he was stiring up the pot. But I do not know what kind of government he is going to set up, I am however watching closely.
