Day 2 of the hearings:
The NY Times - Jan. 6 Hearing: Barr Says Trump Was ‘Detached From Reality’
On the second day of the hearing, William P. Barr, the former attorney general, said in a recorded deposition that claims of widespread electoral fraud were nonsense.
[Barr] testified that he believed the president had grown delusional as he insisted on pushing false claims of widespread election fraud that he was told repeatedly were groundless ...
“He’s become detached from reality if he really believes this stuff,” [Barr] told the panel, adding, “There was never an indication of interest in what the actual facts were.”
As the hearing closed, Rep. Zoe Lofgren said Mr. Trump used lies about fraud as a fund-raising tool.
The Washington Post - Trump’s inner circle warned him election fraud claims were false
A parade of top advisers - including the former president’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, former campaign manager Bill Stepien, and former attorney general William P. Barr - told investigators that Trump ignored their advice.
Executive Summary:
1. Trump was told, but he didn’t care.
2. Almost everyone knew that Trump had lost.
3. Trump raising money off bogus election claims was a 'big rip-off.’
