How close Trump came to joining Capitol rioters on Jan. 6 - The Washington Post
Toward the end of 2020, then-President Donald Trump began raising a new idea with aides: that he would personally lead a march to the Capitol on the following Jan. 6.
Trump brought it up repeatedly with key advisers in the Oval Office, according to a person who talked with him about it. The president told others he wanted a dramatic, made-for-TV moment that could pressure Republican lawmakers to support his demand to throw out the electoral college results showing that Joe Biden had defeated him, the person said.
The excursion that almost happened came into clearer focus this week, as the House committee investigating the attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 presented explosive testimony and records detailing Trump’s fervent demands to lead his supporters mobbing the seat of government.
Trump has acknowledged his foiled effort to reach the Capitol. “Secret Service wouldn’t let me,” he told The Washington Post in April. “I wanted to go. I wanted to go so badly. Secret Service says you can’t go. I would have gone there in a minute.”
As a result, the White House staff never turned Trump’s stated desires into concrete plans. Press officers made no preparations for a detour to the Capitol, such as scheduling an additional stop for the motorcade and the pool of reporters who follow the president’s movements. There was no operational advance plan drafted for the visit. No speech was written for him to deliver on the Hill, and it wasn’t clear exactly what Trump would do when he got there, said the person who talked with Trump about the idea.
What he would do it look at the crowds after the coup and say something on the lines of "I am your new president for life".
Shortly before pro-Trump rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, Secret Service agents scrambled to try to secure a motorcade route so then-President Donald Trump could accompany his supporters as they marched on Congress to demand he stay in power, according to two people briefed on witnesses’ accounts to congressional investigators.
The hectic events that day followed nearly two weeks of persistent pressure from Trump on the Secret Service to devise a plan for him to join his supporters on a march to the Capitol from the park near the White House where he was leading a rally that he predicted would be “wild.”
The agency had rebuffed Trump’s early entreaties, but the rushed effort on Jan. 6 to accommodate the president came as Secret Service personnel heard Trump urge his rally audience of nearly 30,000 people to march to the Capitol while suggesting he would join them. Their mission was clear, he said: pressure “weak” Republicans to refuse to accept the election results that made Joe Biden the next president.
Yeah, Trump wanted to go.
In an interview in April with The Post, Trump voiced regret over not marching to the U.S. Capitol the day his supporters stormed the building. He said he pressed to join the march that day but was stopped by his security detail.
“Secret Service wouldn’t let me,” Trump said. “I wanted to go. I wanted to go so badly. Secret Service says you can’t go. I would have gone there in a minute.”
In the interview, Trump defended his incendiary comments urging his supporters to come to Washington and then to march on the Capitol and “fight like hell.”
“I said patriotically and peacefully,” he said. He added that he offered as many as 10,000 soldiers and National Guard members to the Capitol and city through his Defense Department, but Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Mayor Muriel E. Bowser (D) turned down the offer.
“If I wanted to do something, I wouldn’t be recommending soldiers,” Trump said.
That's exactly what Trump would be recommending, to support him when he got there, after the mob had cut the Capitol from everything else.
It was an attempted coup. Failed because like everything else in his life, Trump is a failure.

The NY Times - A Transformative Term at the Most Conservative Supreme Court in Nearly a Century
01 July 2022
WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court moved relentlessly to the right in its first full term with a six-justice conservative majority, issuing far-reaching decisions that will transform American life.
It eliminated the constitutional right to abortion, recognized a Second Amendment right to carry guns outside the home, made it harder to address climate change and expanded the role of religion in public life. ...
By one standard measurement used by political scientists, the term that ended on Thursday was the most conservative since 1931.

That's right, and I seem to remember he thought it was "millions" that were going to turn up. My guess is that most sane Republicans realised they didn't want to be up on insurrection charges, and would just let the rest of the dumbos (aka the MAGA crowd) take the fall for them, while they sat at home watching it all play out.

Supreme Court of Gilead.
Trump crowned? No faux King way!
gzt: 30,000 people is a very small number of people in the history of demonstrations in Washington DC. It's amazing this tent putsch almost succeeded.

Supreme Court of Gilead.
This may get deleted or edited but here goes.
This cartoon image of the front of the SCOTUS building with the very long chandelier looks like the SCOTUS is being teabagged (gaming parlance)
But the meaning is clear 'that the judges are standing over their victim, the corpse of US democracy'.
They, the Judges, also have made a mockery of the two seated marble figures fronting either side of the building. On the left is a female figure, the Contemplation of Justice. On the right is a male figure, the Guardian or Authority of Law.
The west side architrave is incised "Equal Justice Under Law" whilst the east is incised "Justice the Guardian of Liberty."
Yea right not when you have the most conservative court in decades and where a few justices either lied, bent the truth or mightily fudged their congressional interviews.

Here is an interesting piece "The Supreme Court Is Broken. How Do We Fix It?"
Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Independent - Trump cultist MAGA pastor calls Cassidy Hutchinson a ‘lying witch’
02 July 2022
Small town Mississippi preacher turned viral video MAGA pastor Shane Vaughn blasted former Trump staffer Cassidy Hutchinson in an unhinged rant after the ex-aide to then-Chief of Staff Mark Meadows shared explosive testimony with the House Select Committee investigating the attack on Congress on January 6 2021.
Mr Vaughn called Ms Hitchinson a “little witch,” among other things, during a video posted on FirstHarvest.tv, which has since made the rounds on Twitter.
“Standing there lying on the President of the United States of America, the only legitimate one, and you're sitting there lying through your teeth because you are a witch,” he yells in the video. “You are a rebellious Jezebel with your little lezzie spirit.”
“You look like you're a walking zombie. You lie. You lie. You lie. You lie. We know you lied. You know you lied. You're a liar,” he added.
